Is there anyway of finding out how many are left? I have an '89 flame, not standard atm. Just wondering if it would be worth putting it back or weather there aren't many left but still not as valuable as some?

I've got an '89 Flame too. From what i can gather from reading the original brochures it was just a bit of trim changing, a radio and red paint with a white roof.

I got it because i wanted one with the three clock dash.

cant repair it, is to far gone unfortunatly, mine is the mini flame, sorry for the confusion there, confused myself :S, so yes is the rarer one :)

nothing is to far gone........One of my friends hit a tree and the Insurance wanted to rite it off as this was a rust free shell so he paid for it to be put on a jig to pull it straight and he replaced rear panel B-post and rear bin, door and frame new A-post and hinge panel new inner wing front panel and wing.....took him 6weeks to do himself but its a real good job......panels cost £1500 and a full respray £2000 Thats over here in Jersey.

Yes that's basically right. The real significance was that the 1989 Racing, Flame, Sky and Rose models were the first factory Minis in many years with two-colour paint jobs, and this laid the groundwork for the revival of the Cooper shortly after. (The 1990 Racing Green, Flame Red and Checkmate models are subtly different from the 1989 versions e.g. alloy wheels, black trim rather than grey, etc).
