Didn't mean to give misinformation sorry! I was just trying to get at that it's either not possible because they are seperate outputs or no point in trying because they are one output that has been split to two sockets and you wouldn't gain anything.
Out of curiosity though, people keep saying that the outputs are split front and back, why is that? Do they expect people to always have more power to the rear speakers or something? I can't see why front and back makes a difference. I thought they would just have left and right channels (because that's all the audio is) and then just have it wired so there are two left speaker outputs and two right speaker outputs for you to do what you please with. Or do they take the two channel audio track and then put each channel through two mosfets (for front and back) so you end up with a power transistor for each of the 4 outputs, and you can't bridge the transistor outputs on a channel because of noise feeding between them?

Can You Bridge 4 Outputs On Head Unit To 2 To Give More Power?

They are separate so you can fade them.
That what mainstream users want from car audio, so those in the back can have good sound (they think).
Or you can put the kids cd on, and fade it right back.
They are not normally bridgable as that just the way they are made, why go to the expense of adding the circuitry to handle it, when only a handfuls of owners will ever want it or even care?
As for amp design each manufacture will do the details their own way...

I bridged my headunit to power two 5inch subs before I got my amp, it worked really well as it meant that I could lower the resistance by wiring the subs in parallel.
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but do you have a little more info on this? And how good was it? I have a headunit capable of this, and no monies (or space) for an amp or sub!
