picked up my honda today the engine code on the vin plate is F182b by eny chance do you now what that is it looks massive fills the honda bay will upload a pik later asso it looks like it got a realy big bell housing onit

I've never come across the F series, popular ones tend to be B or D series, however all is not lost

F series

Usually the 1.8 lot would be a B series (b18c) so you might have a first F series mini? It might be a derivative of the B18 family but still F is not D =]

The size of the lump your saying is a worry though, in a honda they look small with loadsa space, in a mini they look bigger with no space!

drove the car yesterday and it didnt seen like a TRUE VTEC i couldnt feel no kick lol i got a mate who is busting to buy it off me £300 for his civic think i mite let him have it and try and find a proper b18 or b 16 dohc

yea i neva did find out who did it but the day i do think i mite get locked up

The main difference between the a1 and a2 is the gearbox, a1 is cable driven and a2 is hydro, I'm sure the gearbox side mount is in a very very slightly different position to an a2 one, on an allspeed frame this makes a difference but not on a minitec frame

Check out page 16 onwards for a list of what fits, seems like your safe

Little question for anyone who knows... surely regardless of engine, if its got a y21 box, then its hydro and fine for the allspeed kit? I've got a b16a, with y21. it'll fit, right?

Have you had anyone round to check your shell as it has been fire damaged its likely a lot of the structural integrity has been lost and i wouldn't like to be in there if its gets rolled and subsequently squashed.

Don't to rain on your parade, just something to think about :)

I was thinking that - it would be worth getting it in a jig and checking it's still all straight, as some of the panels may of warped!

the fire damage wasnt to bad if i remember rite it was only on fire for around 10 minits wich is long enough basicly it buckeld the roofs shape and destroyel the dash seats carpet wasnt burned but was scrap i have been carefull wen doing the shell i welded sars in the doors wen i took the roof skin off but i didnt compleatly remove it i left around an inch of the old roof and seem welded on th new one the quater panels where all ok but as its an mpi they suffer with rust so i replaced them and the front as that had been kicked in think it should be structualy ok i will be fitting a full cage for extra safty
