Yeah can imagine it goes from crusty to nice clean soon as the bottom end is in really :) Van is defiantly looking ten times better than it did when you started her mate :)
Most the mk1 should be new metal once I am finished as the roof is the only thing that's not being replaced haha
Good luck with the new job mate sounds like a good job though to be honest :) I get up and have to sit indoors all day hate it with a passion
O well hopefully soon i will have all the minis in one place and i can then start working on them :)

I do have a few cars I need to get done for customers one being a mini need a panels- a wing-floor repairs-sills and get it running and driving for an MOT been off road 3 years I think.
Also have a an old Citroen DS I need to weld up as well. So much to do so little time. Espcially with the job I'm doing.

Got a little bit done on the van this weekend. Decided after a good mate of mine said why not make a good fitting bonnet out of the 2 I have. The vans original bonnet was knackered the underside crossmember was all rotted out. So removed this from the good bonnet but the badly fitting bonnet. I will weld this into the vans original bonnet. And will take sections from the other bonnet to repair the vans one. Just trying to save as much of the original metal work as I can hahah not that's there going to be much mind.
In my excitement when doing the front panel and stupidly of me really I welded it wrong so the curve of the front panel as the top doesn't follow the curve of the bonnet so I've had to put a slit up and raise it and will then weld a filler panel in.
As you can see here the drivers side sort of going flat.

Strengthener panel for the underside of the bonnet will blast and get this cleaned up before fitting

Can see here now much I need to put in

It's really annoyed me that I made such a stupid mistake on such a easy task !! Won't be happening again. But on the good note look at this for a panel gap. Not done any fetteling yet to wings only front panel other side is exactly the same :)

more updates this week
Thanks Dan

Nice one mate I understand the trying to keep bits original its nice when that happens but like you say so much of it has been replaced it would be nice to keep something, I am trying to work out what could be left on my mk1 lol haha not much it will be a new shell once done.....
Top pics panel gaps look wicked to :)
