I was wondering if any one knew how much the manifolds are worth for theses as i might be given a couple but with out manifolds?
Also can you fit two single 45s to an engine? Would this be flooding too much into the engine once fitted? or have no effect?

I am by no means an authority on Webers, but back when I grass track raced in the 80's many in the 1340 class minis ran Webers but I am sure they code 40's not 45's? Some used split webers but again I think split 40's. 45's may be too large?

My own Swiftune motor was built with a side draught 40 Weber, and made 120bhp. However it was a pig to start sometimes, loud and stank of fuel apparently so the previous owner swapped it for a fettled 1"3/4 SU. Back to back with the 40 it made 118.5 BHP with better power lower down and no smells with reliable starting. I am not currently planning to swap it back...

i think a weber is suited more for a race car, is it for a race car ? or modified FUN car then fine

if not stick to an SU

There is no point, apart from cosmetic, in fitting a 40 DCOE. The largest chokes available are 34mm, so do the math. Lotus twin cams used 2x40 DCOEs and they used 33mm in std road form.

I ran a 45, but I choked it down to 38mm.

The manifolds vary vastly in price as it depends on the spec. Swan neck? 4", 5", 6" runners???

the swan neck will let you run one without modding hte bulkhead, but will choke the power a bit, the 5" and 6" are the ones I'd go for.

Expect to spend £100 for a new manifold really.

I ran my 1380 on the original weber it came with last year and although it produced decent power it guzzled fuel and was smelly, i am in the throes of fitting an HIF44 (1.3/4")SU carb as this will produce virtually the same power but will be more driveable and easier to set up and maintain. Unless your going to compete i would give the weber a miss.

Mingy, that is exactly what ended up happening to my car. 49% of me does actually want to put the Weber back on, just for automotive porn reasons you understand!!

I don't want to disappoint you but expecting the same power from a single 1 3/4" SU as a 45 weber with 40 chokes isn't going to happen. Try 2 x HS6s and then you are in the ball park

You can get 36mm chokes for 40s. They wont be as good as a 45 choked down to the same level but you can get them

In case anyone was wondering what 45DCOE actually means. The 45 means it has a 45 mm throttle plate, DC stands for doppio corpo (Italian for double-throat), the O stands for orizzontale (Italian for horizontal) and the E means it's a Die-Cast carb

A dcoe? No, the float chamber can't be sealed.
Dellorto did a turbo version of the 40 dhla for the lotus esprit turbo. Think it was called The dhla-H or E I cant remember which

Sorry Ivor i did,nt state it was a DCOE 40 on the car at the time, which is really too small for a 1380 unit. I just want driveability and a bit more economy for my mini.
