You have done so well with the restoration and has given us a lot of ideas and I'm sure we will be using this post a lot over the next year or two as we rebuild our mini 30. Looking forward to it and maybe we will see you about at one of the shows.

hi jack and steff, thanks that means a lot to know you'll be referring to our work lol
we are off to himley sunday so if anyone wants to have a nosey they are more than welcome ive got a few bits to get from the show, mainly two rear wheel bearings and a bonnet seal but i may get some rear hilos and mudflaps but we'll see - i've also got a plan in the pipe line for some more fancy engine performance bits and pieces but you'll have to wait until the end of may to find out about those

I might pipe up too, read this thread multiple times, and I'm picking up a black mini 30 tomorrow. Going to do the same as you, and get it near original, with touches to make it personal. Hopefully see yours in the metal one day too, as it looks ace in the pics! Looking forward to updates!!

My dad currently owns the car but im hoping if we do it up he will let us have it. Engine turns over but has not run since 2000. wiring to ignition has burnt out reason for it not turning over by key i hope. We stripped out all interior of car yesterday.
Rhys was wondering if you used any books or websites to help you with your build. Think we are going to struggle with the wiring side as we know nothing about it lol.

hi mate, the haynes manual would help with the wiring - think there might be complete wiring guides in there, we just stripped most of the loom down to check for damage, tested the wires and tapped it back up again as well as running a few extra wires for spot lights etc other than that this forum is all you need, only other thing i used the haynes manual for was torque settings and rocker clearances and that sort of thing

i've got an apprenticeship with a guaranteed job at the end of a three year day release foundation degree (two days a week for the first year and one day for the last two years) in design engineering specialising in advanced CAD and CNC machining - the job is a co-manager of CAD and overseeing CAM manufacture for a company called WMH-Transmissions, they make gears, threads and linear motors and are moving into robotics, hydraulics and pneumatics. That's where i come in as they are putting me and my mate from sixth form (my future co-manager) through this course to make us a very useful asset to the company, as well as sales reps who have go and visit clients - no pressure really

Got any idea if the Haynes manuals have changed at all got an old one that goes up to a 1988 and the new book goes up to 2001 but I cant see it changing much.We looked at wiring guide in the manual both with blank looks on our faces lol.
Hope your test goes well and that job sounds brilliant.
