Since I last posted anything up here, not much has happened really: he still has no mot or tax; I haven't passed my test yet and cliff has been sat in the garage for like 5 weeks and these pics are the most I've looked at the mini :'(
I've been having lessons off my dad and I'm nearly ready for my test but sixth form keeps getting in the way :L plan of action is to take my test after my January exams ready for the show season if for some reason I don't pass by then, I'll still take him to shows with my L plates on lol
On the plus side I've been working and saving and I can now afford to insure Cliff when I pass
Until next time folks, Rhys

hi all, due to yesterdays hack attack (some people have no lives) i have lost all the progress updates from last weekend, so here goes...again
first we flatted down the whole car with p240 wet and dry (bar the roof which will be done with an orbiter during the week to get an even finish)
drives roof corner repaired
then we primed the areas of exposed metal, thin paint and new metal
then we seam sealed the new front end seams, vertical seams, sills edges and around the window apertures
that's it for now, we are back up to date
this Saturday we are moving Cliff back home for re assembly
comments always welcome
Cheers
Rhys
What seam sealer do you use?
it looks similar to the stuff we use on aircraft

Graham: yes we smoothed it off afterwards, which was no simple task - that stuff is really sticky :L

First off I'd like to say thanks for all the nice feed back :)
MiniLover1: thanks muchly mate
MiniCooper: I'm not sure what the first rust reverted we used was - it was a special mix lent to us by a friend who restores VW Busses so sorry about that :L we did use hammerite rust reverter when that stuff ran out if this helps and it worked good too. We painted straight over both reverters once they'd been left to do there stuff.
Tom2012: thank you buddy :)
Graham: it's nasty stuff isn't it :L but at least it's gonna do it's job for a long time :) our smoothing technique was to us a piece of torn up card that is laminated on one side - we used the box that the latex gloves we used came In, worked a treat. But it's best to put it on so that it doesn't need smoothing as we did for the scuttle gaps it's a bit nerve wracking but you just have to go for it in one go.
LeeBash: thanks mate, I am lol I'm sorry to say that I don't know either I keep meaning to fill out a V888 form that'll tell me the whole history of the car - hopefully. All I know is that it was never registered on uk roads until 1998, it was brought by the military from new at the factory and I can only guess that it was most likely used as a transport for higher officers on a base, maybe over seas. Who knows, it could have been a spy car ;) lol if only
Cheers
Rhys
