Great thread, great rebuild.

Love the fact that you kept the St.Chris, my grandad gave me one he's put on every motorbike hes had since the 70's and now hes given it to me for my mini :D although mine will go on the dash, :D

question: What carpet set did you buy?

Cheers.

cheers matey :proud: i too was going to put the st,chris badge somewhere in side the car (maybe as a rear view mirror accessory ) but after i found out about the history of the car i decided to put it back in pride of place on the grill as it is also part of the character of the car =]

i got the carpet set for my birthday earlier this year from minispares :highfive:

Cheers bud

Rhys

hi all, i've now decided that i'm going to get cliff featured in mini magazine so all the little niggley jobs that needed doing are being done today so i can lots of pics set to simon at mini mag :D

so first things first, as promised i have fitted my ram pipe

Posted Image

and filter, there was less space than i thought so i had to slide the filter down the pipe a little but unfortunately the cable tie deformed the filter >_< oh well, i'd rather it be sealed properly than look perfect :proud:

Posted Image

pic of the finished engine bay

Posted Image

and a vid of the induction roar :gimme:

Posted Image

we also run the car a bit longer and now the repair patch has finally sealed properly so no more chuffing out of the manifold

next thing was to waxoil along the top of the cross member as we found when we washed it last time that water collects there so hopefully that shouldn't be a problem any more :proud: when washing it, we also found that water was leaking in through the bottom of the door cards, can't have that with my new carpets >_< so i have gaffa taped some think bin liners over all the holes (proper engineering that ;D) and that should hopefully stop the leaking. water will still leak into my doors but we have filled them with waxoil and drilled several holes along the bottom (before we painted the car)

i'm going back out now so more pics and progress to follow

Rhys

cheers joe :proud: i can't wait either :gimme:

so all the little jobs are finished now. first of all, here's a pic of my water proofing

Posted Image

Posted Image

after a few checks with the hose pipe and a few tweaks we got them all to seal so i can officially say that cliff is water proof :gimme: well resistant any way >_<

then we did some other little jobs like glue the speaker covers on properly, run the usb cable for the radio up the dash out of view and put two big bags of sand in the boot to try and settle the cones a bit more over the next week or so before his mot :gimme:

then we gave him a wash, leather and polish and took some pics of the finished article so i can email them over to mini mag :D

hi all, well not much of an update, been on holiday for a while so not much mini progress but i did get two B's and an A in my AS results :genius: went to the classic car and transport show at catton hall today and got a switch for my spot lights in the same style as the rest of the switches on the dash but it is a rear window screen wiper switch but no one will ever notice and i'll know what what it's for...i hope >_< also heard back from mini world and cliff will be in the my mini section in a few issues time :D got my theory test tuesday so fingers crossed and then cliff is going for mot and rolling road =]

cheers mate, yeah he should do, the only thing he may fail on is headlamp alignment and emissions as they are things we can't get 100% our selves >_<

hello again all, three weeks and no updates, i'm going to miss this thread now that cliff is done :( any ways, i passed my theory test first time the other week and i've been having some lessons now for a few weeks so that's all good :mrcool:

i went to mini fest uttoxeter last week end and brought a few bits:

a switch for my spots in the same style as the rest of the switches in the cab

Posted Image

a black handbrake gaiter as there wasn't one on cliff when i got him

Posted Image

a red mini thirty tax disk holder (had to be done ;D)

Posted Image

a set of red mini thirty wheel centres, they really do finish the car of well :proud:

Posted Image

Posted Image

ooh and i found some bunting in my cupboard that i got years ago, i wanted to put it in the back window but i wouldn't be able to see out of it

Posted Image

i went to stanford hall today and was very tempted to buy a complete metro turbo set up for £300 but that can wait for cliff v2.0 next year :shifty: i've decided against dropping a 1275cc in and want to turbo my 1L (maybe stroke it to 1130) for more smiles per gallon and it'll still be cheaper to insure =] but i'm getting ahead of my self...after searching around a bit more for insurance, it looks like cliff won't be going on the road until i'm 18 as i don't really need a car for my last year of sixth form and i won't have passed my test till around christmas time or maybe later due to exams in january :mmkay: so i have another 9 ish months to save up and my insure will drop when i turn 18 and i may have been driving around for a few months prior :proud:

i just want to say thank you to everyone who has helped me over this rebuild and left comments on my work so i didn't feel like i was talking to myself

watch this space...who knows what will happen to cliff once i finish sixth form and start an apprenticeship. cough*turbo*cough ;D

cheers fellas

whats it drive like with that ram pipe? From what i've read in the david vizzards tuning book the pipes with the gauze arn't great for performance and actually hinder it.

between you and me, i haven't actually driven it yet :shy: we haven't mot'd or taxed it yet and it's parked up my garage awaiting when i pass my test. but it seems to run fine (now we've put some different oil in the dash pot anyway) i brought it to sound cool, which it does :shades: so i don't really mind if it takes 1 or 2 bhp
