Project Cliff - The Cherry Red Thirty

it is tucked quite high up under the bumper so you can't see the bracket and cable and it keeps the sleek look i'm aiming for
we also turned cliff around so we could fit the grille in natural light but we're having problems getting the grille to fit right, when we brought the car, the grille was touching the N/S indicator but there was a large gap the other side. i put the grille together as square as i could but when we came to fit it in the given holes, it is still off centre and one end surround catches the bonnet so we've had to take all three surround pieces off again after an hour or so of fettling, we got the gaps as good as they are going to get so we'll fix the pieces back together and hopefully fit the grille...finally
as we had turned the car around, it was a good opportunity to test my boot light in the dark...it does the job well

i think this handbrake reinforcer bracket looks quite cool
general cabin pics
rather than watching paint dry, we finally reassembled (again) and refitted my grille
the gaps are pretty good now
my grandad has been clearing out his garage and he gave me these brand new genuine lucas spot lamps
what do you all think, yay or nay to the new spots ?
he also gave me a bag of other bits and pieces including: genuine new mk1 HT leads; new chrome wing mirrors; a few pairs of chrome washer jets; loads of condensers/points; some new radiator caps and some other bits and bobs will be selling these along with my other pile of bits at the shows i will attend this and next year
tomorrow we will refit the back window and new chrome washer jets + pipe and fill/test them

I personally think it looks better without the spots!

we then decided to fit my front screen as well but didn't quite get it finished, the rubber is a bit tricky to work with so we eventually decided to leave it over night to settle around the screen so we can try fitting the locking strip tomorrow...i have also removed the faded MOT sticker and tax disk holder (i have a new one to go back on the car)

Excellent progress, Just the interior now ?
Andrew.
cheers mate, the interior is the next big thing to do on my list, what is left to do is:
- rear quarter windows
- carpet
- interior refit
- pinstripes and decals
- spot lights
- rear mudflaps
- new plates with personalised message along the bottom
- and fit a very, very loud horn
we can't fit the interior until the speaker wire i order off ebay gets delivered, that is the only thing holding us up this weekend and then it'll be pretty much done and ready for an MOT in August

Looking really good, its coming along at a great pace. How did you find doing the screens? I thought they were a nightmare.
cheers pal, the screens went in pretty nicely actually. i too thought they were going to be a right pain to fit, especially the front one because we had to replace the scuttle but the only tricky thing so far has been the locking strips because the new rubbers are fairly tricky to work with and you definitely need the fitting tool to have any hope of fitting them properly

then we tested the seals of the windows and doors with the hose pipe...i may get some new rear quarter window seals as there is a few small leaks and the doors are leaking in from the chrome winding window seal but i have an idea how to fix that we then gave the car a much deserved wash and polish and i remembered to use my camera rather than my phone...enjoy
not much left to do now, just need to pick up the last few bits and bobs from Himley hall next week end...if any one wants any of the spare bits and pieces i have, let me know and we can arrange to meet you at the show
