hi again all, just got back in from the garage. i've rebuilt my grille with new pop rivets and some more plastic pipe around the edges to act as a seal like the one on the bonnet

Posted Image

cleaned and refitted the C pillar liners, parcel shelf mat, factory speakers and under rear screen liner/cover thing

Posted Image

cleaned out the boot, fitted the battery cover and spare wheel, glued some soft pads to the bottom of the boot board legs and refitted it

Posted Image

i am going to buy a roll of black carpet to match the parcel shelf mat and then wrap my boot board, speaker board and line my rear bins + speaker boards with it

tomorrow we will fit the grille and new chrome washer jets + green washer pipe and fill/test the system

haha loving "factory fitted" things, on mine my speakers are the same but angled out towards the rear side windows rather than straight ahead like yours, unless you have deliberately changed the angle?

i'm trying to keep my 30 as standard as possible and things like the speakers are hard to get now...i also have the original radio :D but i'm going to put my new one in, purely for the usb connector otherwise i'd be cassettes all the way  the speakers should be pointing straight ahead from factory...i'm not actually going to link the speakers to the radio because i'm going to put my six powerful speakers under the rear seats and in the rear bins and two in my metro door pockets so i don't need these but i'm keeping them in there for the factory fresh look plus i don't think they'd handle some of my "louder" music ;D

oops my mistake >_< this says they should be aimed forward

http://www.boraman.c...0/interior.html

but this says other wise

http://www.boraman.c...30_interior.jpg

oh well, i'll live with mis-aimed speakers ;D lol mine were aimed straight ahead when i got it and the speakers had made groove in the parcel shelf mat so i've aimed mine forward to sit in the grooves...i must have early ocd or something O_O

and no thats not OCD its just common sence!

in your link to the 25 advert, it says it gives better acoustic qualities...in a mini with those speakers and radio, i don't think it would make a difference if the speakers were aimed towards the rear screen  lol.

It wouldnt make any difference if they had the speakers hanging from the roof by the speaker cables! they really sounded like two midgets sitting in little boxes farting in time!

May be the fact they were 30 years old, but I think thats how bad they were anyway!

Hi Rhys.
My speakers in the back of Cherry are pointing outwards.. They are different to yours but as far as I am aware they are original to my mini 30.. They are Philips ones I think.. Not sure as I am not at home at the moment. My 30 was owned by a Rover employee when she was new so maybe they were an upgrade? Not sure.. They are 2x40 watt I think... They sounded pretty pants though to be fair.. Lol. I also have the original radio although it wasn't fitted, so I don't know if it works.. Mine came with an "Aldi special" cd player which I put straight in the dustbin.. Lol (cd didn't work)
Hope this helps.. Although lets be honest.. It doesn't really matter in the grand scheme in my opinion.. You've done so much justice to the original car in every other area I hardly think anyone will judge you for pointing your speakers in a different direction.. Lol
Cheers, by the way the grille looks great. I like the st Christopher too. Keep up the good work.
Joe

cheers joe, maybe there was a choice of speakers from factory...and maybe you could pay extra to have them pointed straight ahead for you  yeah i like it, i haven't seen one on a mini before and it just adds that extra something to the front end to make it stand out but be subtle at the same time :D
