If I can get mine built up as quickly as you are doing yours I might make goodwood next week! I will have a day 9-5 to completely build up exterior and some interior, give it a polish and then a drive

But yours is looking excellent! get that grill on and she will look a beauty!

it would be impressive if you could do all that in a day...it would be like something off of custom my ride cheers bud, my original grill is an external release 11 slat grill but i wanted the sleek look and brought an 11 slat internal release cheap at a show last year...i need to straighten a few twists in the slats out and give it a good clean before i put it on the car. i also need to buy two new grill ends, clean my bonnet trim up and transfer my St. Christopher across to the new grill. i'm doing that either tomorrow or Sunday and then i'll put it on to finish the front end

yeah well it took me a morning to strip mine, so working on about double that for re-assembly, I have a man coming to fit my windscreen as I cracked mine coming out, then its just lights, arches, grill, no plates, doors, bonnet, bootlid, and then when i get home refit rear seats, door cards and a few other bits I left here, I think thats do-able!

hi all, we had a good day of work today.

we fitted the door mirrors, chrome window seals, door handles, door and window seals, check straps and rubbers, door catches and locking mechanisms...i'm really pleased with the final door gaps









we then fitted the boot seal, rear lights, rear bumper, boot handle, fuel tank filler neck seal and number plate light. we also refitted my boot light and ran a length of wire from the isolator to my radio housing (with an in-line fuse) so the radio will have a constant power feed so it keeps the right time and it's memory







and we fitted the chrome bonnet trim, the plastic seal strip snapped whilst i was cleaning it so we instead used a piece of clear plastic pipe and cut a slit down it to go in place of the seal...it does the job better than the old seal and actually looks better up close



that's it for today folks...tomorrow i will repair,clean and refit my new grill and St. Christopher badge; clean out the boot and wrap my boot board in some of my old carpet; refit the parcel shelf mat, rear speakers and C post covers; and then maybe give the dash board a final clean as it got a bit messy whilst i was flatting down the car ready for paint

lol, if my dad wasn't playing golf tomorrow we would probably get very close to finishing but as it is just me tomorrow, there won't be as quick as progress but we need to respray some parts of the body work that will be exposed inside side the car first before we can fit the interior so that will take at least a day to dry. it's going to be nice weather monday so we'll do that after i get back from sixth form so i recon he'll be all finished next week end

my dad's mate (same bloke we borrowed the truck off of) can start MOTing vehicles the first of August so i have roughly a month and a half in which i'd like to pass my driving test so i can start driving Cliff ASAP but that's a bit optimistic lol

Judging by how quick you got cliff back together you'll pass your test in no time! I only had 11 lessons with an instructor and I passed first time. I had a few lessons with my dad in my mini.. (that didn't go so well though as we fell out lol..) keep it up mate. Soon you'll be zooming about all over the place!

cheers pal, all my mates who have been 17 for ages still haven't past their tests yet and it's making me a bit worried lol. my dad is probably going to teach me but i still need to have a few lessons with a proper instructor to learn all the new things they've introduced this year i wanted to learn in my mini but i'd rather learn and pass before he gets his MOT in August...i could get him MOT'ed somewhere else sooner but that'll cost extra and at least it'll give me chance to start saving for my insurance

A MOT is only about £40 isn't it ?
I've got my test booked for the 25th of next month.
Make sure you book yours sooner rather than later because there is a long waiting list.

cheers bud, i hope so yeah they're around £40 but there's a place by me that'll do an MOT for £30...do you mean driving test or theory ? i need to book mine soon, now all my exams are out of the way, i can start focusing on learning to drive

hi all, been in the garage this morning trying to create one good grill out of my old rusty grille and my second hand show brought grille

first i drilled out the rivets on the bottom two slats on both grilles, i also removed the grille ends and St. Christopher badge on the old grille



the old parts i won't be using



and the parts i will be repairing to make one good grille



then i straightened out all the dents and gave all the parts a good clean



then i gave them all a polish











going back in the garage now to put the grille together and put it back on the car

cheers buddy. A - St. Christopher is the patron saint of travel. B - the badge says "behold St. Christopher and go your way in safety", it's a lucky charm for safe travelling because St. Christopher is supposed to watch over whatever the badge is on i.e. my mini C - i'm not deeply religious, the previous owner had a fear of driving so brought a mini to help concur that fear and she brought this antique badge to help build her confidence but she left it on the car when she sold it so i'm putting it back on the car because it's part of Cliff's character and charm
