As a follower of this thread it's so pleasing to finally see it almost finished! That paint job is soo good! You and your dad have a done a sick job mate. you should definitely get this in MiniWorld mag. Do you remember me posting a while back? i posted about having a look at a mini to buy, i actually went on to buy it :D It's so much fun to drive! Scary though xD

cheers mate, i really want to try and get this featured in either mini magazine or world (or both ;D) it would be quite an achievement for my first build :gimme: yes i remember you bud, congratulations and welcome to the herd :proud: what model is it ? i'm looking forward to driving mine, i have only driven it once :ohno:

One word mate.. Wow!! Seriously nice. You must be so proud. Such a nice finish! Where did you have it done and how much? (i know, arent i cheeky?!) I've been quoted £800 depending on the prep work needed at Nottingham Mini Bits.
Can't wait to see him fully finished!
Joe.

That is a very very good paint job if its as good in real life as it is in the pictures, looks top notch and I am only slightly jealous, :P but we shal see as I am spraying mine next week so I now know what i have to beat in quality.

just dont forget to buy some masking tape and tape up all edges when fitting panels (make sure paint has fully set!!!) just so you dont end up chipping edges and dont scratch it!

a tip with the tape as well is when you get some off the roll stick it to you then put it on the car, looses some of the sticky ness and is less likely to do damage and dont leave it on for too long or get wet as it really sticks when it gets wet and leaves a lot of mess.

Cant wait to see this done now!

cheers matey, trust me, it looks even better in person  oh really, we shall have to see about that ;D

thanks for the tip bud, but the paint shop is refitting my bonnet before we collect it so i don't have the pressure of causing the first scratch in fresh paint >_<

neither can i mate, i can't wait to get it back and start adding the final bits and pieces :proud:

cheers joe, i had it painted at repair-fix near the belfry golf course...£800 isn't a bad quote really mate, i didn't want to say how much but beings as both you and andrew have asked, it cost half a bag of sand (£500) ;D

only a few weeks left to go, my final exam is thursday so it's all hands on deck for the final push next week

Are you planning on making the interior as special as the exterior? Or keeping it standard? :D

Well I would still be buying some tape as its all to easy to scratch bits when putting on bumpers, windows, grill, and other little bits!

hi mate, i originally chose this model of mini mainly because i love the interior but also my dad wanted me to have a mini with disk brakes and a servo so i want the interior to be pretty much standard but i will of course be adding my flare but you'll have to wait and see ;D

£500 is a very good price for the results you got.
I've got work experience next week at a car spray shop so hopefully I'll make friends and get me a discount or pick up the skills to do it my self.

kajdfh;dkashjfdas;? Mates rates if not mines getting transported and painted there. I may live in essex but the transport costs added it will still be less than a paint job from round here. Anything in london area's is more expensive :(

Thanks for that Rhys. I was just trying to work out a rough idea of what I should expect to pay. I was considering having my 30 a different colour but after seeing yours I am pretty sure I'll keep it cherry red. It is stunning mate.. I will start a build thread for cherry as soon as I have my new welder (it has been ordered) and I start making some better progress. I have just about done the engine and everything else is done except the body.. If i started one now, I would just look slow and lazy lol.
Cheers. Joe.
