cheers bud, imo i would restore to former glory but only if most if not all of the LE parts are present but it'll be your car so do what you wish :proud: word of advice, don't be scared by first appearances but don't impulse buy...take your time to way up if it is viable to restore or not.................if i'm honest, cn probably wasn't the best example we looked at but i thought with my heart and here i am but i wouldn't change a thing

Rhys

lol. Its just what I'm looking for really and solid sills. Only one i've seen with solid sills and sub-frames! Problem with restoring it to original condition is the 35 was a fairly sh*t special edition anyway. Alloys where an option. :P Other than the bonnet badge and the paint/stickers. I dont think any of the parts are LE stuff. Different wheels, Different steering wheel. Lack of interior :P

Cant wait to see "Cliff-Nigel" Painted. I've been following your thread for a while. Kinda what made me get to work looking for a car!

a solid mini is a hard thing to find, go for it if it's the right price. fair enough then, go forth and modify

cheers mate, its nice to know my project has been inspiring :proud:

Rhys

The right price it is at £500. Its so cheap as its completely stripped interior and its been sitting for 6 years. :P

andrew - neither can i mate, it's being painted friday so we will be able to pick him up early next week :gimme:

joe - cheers mate, i recon 2 or 3 weeks after getting him back from the paint shop tops before he's mot ready :D the timing of the paint job has been fairly convenient as i was away last week and i still have A level exams this week and next week so i wouldn't be able to do much work on him any way >_< glad to hear your daily is all better now ;D

other small updates

- i'm having difficulty finding insurance for Cliff-Nigel as he is classed as an import on the interwebs as he was exported from production and re imported in 1998 so my cheapest quote so far is £4,300 :ohno: >_< any ideas ? i've tried third party, changing vehicle value, vehicle usage, tracker etc. only on comparison sites so far but if i search for the vehicle manually, my cheapest quote is £3,200 which is better but still more than i was quoted when i first got the car £2,100 :mmkay:

- i've finally got a steady income for the mini fund as a grounds keeper :proud:

Rhys

EDIT: i've finally got my user name changed =]

i've just had a look through the insurance area and found that Graham Skyes does good deals on young drives and mods actually decrease the price :gimme: i think i know who i'll ring first

my mom has just got home from work and gave me a late birthday present, it's an ultimate PC DVD rom driving test which includes a driving simulator, unlimited theory tests (apparently has a guaranteed 100% pass rate ? ) learn your road signs, hazard perception, practical driving lessons and car maintenance guide. as well as two sets of L plates and a driving licence application form  so i'm all set to start learning next week :proud:

Hi rhys. You ever heard of pass plus? When I passed my test in 2003 it halved my insurance! Not sure if its still going though.. it was a sort of "advanced' driving course which included a motorway lesson, night lesson and a winter lesson.. was very easy as I covered the winter bit (snow) on my actual driving lessons before I passed my test. If I remember it cost about £75 but that was in my own car and cough** 9 years ago.. (God I feel old!) Haha..

hi joe, yeah i have heard of pass plus and i was intending on taking it but i have just read on here in the insurance section that it is being abolished in 2014 and insurers won't recognise it as an advanced course so i don't think it is worth me taking it. shame, it would have reduced my insurance a bit :(

Cheers anyway

Rhys

hi all, i thought it was about time i uploaded some photos of the parts i got for my birthday, my room is like a mini suppliers

Posted Image

new carpet set and front/rear screen seals

Posted Image

Posted Image

nice new shiny stainless steel bumpers

Posted Image

along with some other small miscellaneous parts that aren't really worth taking photos of

whilst i was on holiday in Ireland, i spotted this from a small country lane we were walking along...talk about sixth sense, i don't know how i spotted this

Posted Image

can anyone spot it ? it's a very rusty abandoned mini :( this was the best photo i could get, you can just see the passengers roof corner protruding out of the bushes. it is so rusty, the scuttle has rotten away and the window screen has fallen out...i think it is past the point of return -_-

Oh my, wow. Just... Wow. That finish is incredible. Bet you nearly fell over when you first saw it, didn't you? I've followed this thread for months and months watching this lucky car come together, and by god have you done a good job. All the hard work you have put in over the past months has been so worthwhile - you have yourself a beautiful car, cherish it. More pictures!!!
