Looking good mate. Just a quick question. What have you painted your engine with? Well, the silver bits in particular.. I am doing my engine at the minute and I am haing a bantam green, silver and black kind of theme. The green is for the block (which I have yet to paint) the silver is for the gearbox starter, and the black is for brackets etc. the silver and black are simoniz high temp engine lacquer (spray) and the green is a brush on paint I got from the auto jumble.. The silver paint I am using needs to be cured by either putting it back on the car and running the engine for a while or baking In the oven at 220 degrees centigrade.. I can't put it back in the car as the engine is out and I have tried baking it in the oven (I was soooo popular haha!) but it scratches so easily and is very fragile so I don't think it has cured properly. I want to try something else for the silver bits as the black stuff is fine and really hard.. What have you used please? Here is my progress with the engine. http://www.mini30.in...tage_5_-_Engine although I haven't updated it in a few days as one of my other cars is poorly and I need it back on the road..
Keep up the good work mate. Getting seriously jealous now.. Haha.
Cheers joe.

hi joe, we used silver alloy wheel paint for all the silver bits on the car, including the gear box it gives a great finish and is very resistant

pretty much finished bolting all the engine bits back on
fitted the water pump pulley, fan, radiator and cowling, washer bottle, wiper motor, radiator hoses, new fuel filter/sediment bowl, braided fuel lines, fuse box, over flow pipe and engine earth (there wasn't one on the mini when i brought it )
question: is the float bowl over flow pipe (copper pipe) on the correct spout ? cheers
that's all for today, plan of action for this week:
monday - hub and drive shaft assembly on one side
tuesday - hub and drive shaft assembly on other side
thursday - run battery cable and fit an isolator switch
friday - fit gauge cluster, heater box and pipes, speedo drive, accelerator cable and pedal
saturday - WIRING LOOM ! !
and as it is a bank holiday......get it running (hopefully)

today we run the new battery cable, it was a bit fiddly to run in the engine bay but the rest went very smoothly, just got to make a bracket to mount the isolator on the shock mount tomorrow. all that is left to do now is wire in the loom and then it is time for the big switching on
