I am also ignorant regarding woodruff keys as I have always used dot to dot or vernier....but I dont see any reason why the key cant be reversed on the cam to create positive or negetive adjustment to the timing figures...

can you do cam timing for a standard cam? its the cam that came with the engine so i have no idea what it should be set to. i have a 998cc standard engine, so what should the cam timing be for that? any ideas?

Just keep it dot to dot...Its really only performance cams/engines that need to be timed this way..I think so much emphisis has been put onto cam timing for normal engines that its making people think they NEED to get the cam timed perfectly on a standard engine. When in fact dot to dot is normally perfect. Im probably guilty of this as much as any one..but the reason for this thread was not to worry people into thinking that they need to get the cam timed perfecty but more to show how its done IF its needed..

But to answer your question I think your cam is around 106 deg ATDC..
