Hi,

Apologies as this is probably a popular thread.

I've purchased a RHD 3 clock Burr walnut dashboard for my 1993 Rover mini cooper.

I did think it would just slot in but so far not had any luck with getting it to fit neatly.

It didn't come with any fitting instructions so wondered if anyone had any or has fitted a walnut dash and how did you go about?

Thanks

Hey mate, is your dash genuine or aftermarket?

I bought a genuine rover walnut dash and it had three brackets attached to it.
I offered the dash up and had to drill holes in the underside of the frame of the car, just aboe the footwells ( the metal frame behind the bottom dash rail), then bolt into place. The brackets attached to mine had bolts welded to them so I just needed a few nuts for them.
It was a bit fiddley but fitted rather well and looks spot on.

Hope this is any help.
Jack

Hi Jack,

think it's aftermarket as purchased from minispares.com.

Has 3 brackets to attach to the upper and lower parts of the parcel shelf.

Will give it another go when i've got some spare time, just seems to be trying to get a square peg in around hole!

I had a lot of problems with an aftermarket dash a few years ago. I bought a second hand one of this forum but a genuine one and it just seemed to be a much easier fitiment!

Hope you get it fitted alright and get some pics up when you do!

Hi Gaz
I bought the 3 clock carbon fibre dash from minispares has got instructions but vents pipes missing, I had look at how easy it fits, theres 3 brackets on the back that seem to fit to the top and bottom of the parcel shelf, however theres a big gap in the middle as the dash is curved on the car and the new dashboard is straight, i think you could tighten the brackets so it pulls it into the curved shape but i dont fancy trying this in case it brakes at a £150 a go. Hope this makes sense in what i'm saying and if anyone has an idea of what to do please let me know

cheers Ade

Hi Ade,

Yeah that's pretty mush the same problem i've got, no curve to the dash and it doesn't seem to fit in the middle of the upper and lower dashboards and the fresh air vents are too far back.

Also my 3 clocks seem to be too far back but looking at some images online you still need to tube bits that were on the original.

Agree, don't fancy pushing it as the price i paid...so much for this being a simple job even i could manage!
