Has anyone got any experience with AUTOTEK paints? Are they good / bad? Do they react with any other brands? How does this compare to the U-Pol Acid #8 etch primer?

I can get this brand of paints through a contact for less than half price (2x cans of etch primer for under £10 vs 1x can of U-Pol for £13) so would like to know if they are ok.

Any comments welcome.

i have only used the upol products mate and the etch primer is excellent, lays on fantastically flat. but remember normally with most things you get what you pay for.....not saying the autotek isnt any good-just never used it.

Upol acid 8 is expensive (1L £30) but does work very well, but taking a chance on products you have never used before, for say £20 difference is quite a gamble i wouldnt fancy taking. and this is quite an important part of the paint process on your car.
if your ok painting 2k paints theres some 2k etch primers available that are pretty cheap £25 ish and you basically get 1 litre of etch and 1 litre of activator so 2 litres in total. not bad for £25 quid.

hope this helps, just mainly my own opinion

Cheers Sam, I've considered that point but my wife works for a high end car dealership & her parts guy can get it cheaper that's why I'm going to use it. There are a few places who sell it but I have only just heard about it. The paint is packaged by James Briggs who is a subsidury of ITW but I can't really find any info on the actual paint.
