I got quite a bit done today. I live out in the sticks so everything I need has to be mail ordered. Dummy me, I only ordered one steering u-joint so I'm waiting and another one.
But I did get my large air filter and installed it.

I got the intercooler radiator today so I got it and the engine radiator installed. Intercooler is full of water, ran, and no leaks. The engine radiator is waiting for more hose clamps. I think I've used a hundred hose clamps it seams like. I also ran out of welding wire, it's always something.

I had a good day today, Got my two elec fans mounted and my oil cooler. Tomorrow I'll get the oil cooler lines.

I tacked the battery in place. This is where I want to keep it but won't know if this will work until I get my fuel tank. What do you think? Will it work there or is there a better place?

The distance for the battery won't be a problem, make sure you use at least 25 qmm cable (Awg3) for the power and the earth. The starting engine needs à lot of power to fire up the engine. Also, now you're in there you Could open up the starter and brush the round contact copper and check if the contactpoints are ok, the copper should be shiny and gets black in time, which decreases contact and startingpower. Those starters aren't too good, I did mine just this week and am thinking of replacing it for à high torque starter if it doesn't help. ( haven't test it yet due to freezing cold)

I don't know About yours, but my MBE ECU needs à proper constant toothcount or it will just refuse to fire. For this The battery needs to be 100%, just as the thinkness of the cables. Car battery could be better, but is heavy on the alternator.

Streetlegal what the hell, is that possible in the states with a monte?

Is the high placing for the oilcooler no problem? It will be pushed up, but it makes checking the oillevel some bits harder, the level needs to be just on top of the glass window instead of the normal spot i think

Build goes rapid and looks good!!

Thanks for the tips. The battery is actually a ultra light weight race car battery, 425 cranking amps. So it sounds like it might need a bit more oil than normal, that's no problem. Thanks for the complements.

AWG4 will be fine for battery power leads (Pegasus Auto Racing sells very high quality AWG4 battery cable), but my favorite location for the battery is just outboard of the passenger seat. Placing it essentially as a counterweight to yourself, at approximately the same moment of inertia from the car CG as your center of mass, and also reduces the polar moment and puts it low in the car so as not to raise the CG for when that matters (racing, etc.). Just my 2 cents.

I put the car on the hoist today so I could finish the welds under it. I also made 2 skid plates, one for the water hoses up front and one for the engine oil pan.

I also put the aluminum floor on. The top side still has the white protective film on it. That will come off after the frame is painted.

I saw a reallly good mod on a monte the other day. It was like an airhose out the floor between the seats ( on the right side) coming from the bodem of the car to the backplate onto the turbo. It had a fan underneath the car and it gives the turbo fresh air.
I saw it on youtube and Chris told it was great, no more heat seats and too hot turbo. If i had some more room i would surely perform this mod, the aluminum get reallly hot with the glowing turbo behind it, i performed some extra isolation, but when it gets really sporty my still feels quite warm.

Do you know it and are you going to mount it? It also looked good...

I am going to wrap the whole front of the engine with a K-Wool blanket. K-Wool is an industrial insulation used in furnaces and boilers. It insulates so well you can put a torch on one side and your hand on the other. I have a piece 2 by 2 feet I'll be using between the engine and firewall.

Thank you.
Didn't do a whole lot today, started running the brake lines and got the chain on.
