I took the car to a track day at Portland International Raceway Tuesday. I performed flawlessly all day. I did five 20 minute track sessions, I sat out the last one because I was just to tired. PIR was a lot of fun, not as demanding as Oregon Raceway Park.
The 2nd week of Oct were heading down to CA. I have a track day at Thunderhill Raceway, and one at Sears Point.
I was hoping to do Luguna Seca but my car runs at 90 to 94 DB and that's to load for Luguna Seca. Guess I need a better muffler.

I just posted some videos of my track day at PIR. They are at

PS, these runs were with out the turbo. Been having waste gate problems so I pulled it off until I get the problem solved.

Awesome Steve...do you have a separate manifold for when you're not running the turbo?

I use the turbo manifold, just put a pipe I made in-place of the turbo. Bolts right up to the exhaust pipe flange. I also have two dyno map programs.

We just got back from a trip to Northern CA. I wasn't able to make Sears Point or Luguna Seca, next trip. But I did spend a great day ay Thunderhill Raceway. It took me a few laps to remember the track as it has been several months since I was there. I asked a seasoned veteran, Bill a friend of mine to ride with me to show me the best lines. With his help my lap times went down from a 2:30 to a best of 2:18. I still have lots of room for improvement. The car ran perfectly all day, my skill level is no way up with the car yet. Bill was thinking with some minor susp. adjustments, the car should be capable of under 2 seconds. Here's my best lap with Bill along.

Good effort there Birdman, goes to show what a bit of track knowledge can do for your lap times.

I built the car using the display dash2 from Race technologies. I just added their DL1 data logger. This has a GPS that will interface with the Dash2 display, giving me speed, and also enabling my gear indicator. It will also automatically draw a map of any track I'm on and give me "G" figures for all cornering, accelerating, and braking.

I got the new Data Logger up and running today. Now the GPS interfaces speed with my RPM in the Dash 2 display so I now have a working spedo and gear indicator.

Birdman, you have all the good toys.....best of luck getting it setup, that is a really good way to see where you're lifting to early or not on the gas enough on a straight. Can you overlay the info to video?

Yes, you can basically do any thing you want. Program it to start and stop automatically. It even has a time memory, so lets say you program it to start at 20 mph, you can then program it to save all info pryor to reaching 20 mph. So at the start of a race, it turns on at 20 mph but will save the recording 30 seconds before the car started moving. So you don't miss any of the start. It will also control cameras, or any other input, such as brake temp sensors, spring pressure sensors, tire temp and so on. So you could tell your balance from this if one tire and brake is getting much hotter than the others.
But here's the neat thing. Supposedly all things equal, you should be able to reach as many "G"s of cornering force as braking. So you make a bunch of hard stops to get a base line to work from. Let's say you know your car can reach 2 "G"s of braking force, you can then use the recorded data to see how many "G"s your getting in each corner. This will show you which corners your doing maximum and which corners could still be taken harder.

Another thing for all you guys that drive on the wrong side of the road and speak the "Queens Proper Language" as my British wife says. Race Tech is a English company. Here's the web site.

Winter is the pits. Got a whole garage full of cars and can't drive a thing. Anyone make studded snow tires to fit a Monte Carlo? BG
