The track day was a blast. The track is 3/4 mile with 11 turns. With a straight long enough for me to get to 85. All the cars ran one at a time, like an AutoX. 3 laps per run. I got 8 runs in and could have done more but just plain got tired. So we quit about 2pm. When we left I had the fasted lap of the day. So I was pretty happy.

For the most part the car did really well. I spent time adjusting the delay on the ignition cut out on the pingle shifter to get clean shifts with out back fire. I pretty much got that ironed out except it won't down shift while braking with my foot off the gas. It only down shifts with a little throttle so I'll call Pingle today and work on that.

I got what I felt was excessive fish tailing. It felt like the back tires wern't hooking. I did a lot of playing with tire pressure. I started with 23 lbs and went down from there. I got down to 20 and the back tires were kind of hopping through the corners. So I need to work on that. Hopefully adding sway bars will help.

Then my starter crapped out so the last few runs I had to get push started. But no major problems, and it ran cool all day. And timing in the fastest lap of the day was pretty good also.

I did take some videos and will get them posted later.

What is the problem with backfire? ( meant as a serious question)

When you hit the button on the Pingle shifter it momentarily shorts out the ignition, releasing tension on the gear train so you can make a shift with no clutch. The ignition cut out time is adjustable. We started out at 120 mili seconds which was to long. With the foot flat on the floor fuel continues to fill the cylinders and when the ignition comes back on there is excessive fuel which explodes causing the back fire. As the day went on I kept reducing the delay. I ended up at 70 mili seconds which gave me clean shifts with no back fire.

I got my new sway bars installed yesterday which should really help with the body roll. I also got my new street tires.

Every Friday night we have a street rod "Cruiz In" here in town, which is a 20 mile drive each way for me. Last night we drove the Monte Carlo down to the Cruiz In. It drew allot of attention to say the least. It made it up and back no problems. Water temp stayed in the 180 to 180 range.
One thing I was originally concerned about was the small fuel tank. I made it to town and back no problem. Also a couple of weeks ago at the Medford Track day I ran 9 track sessions, each session had a warm up lap, 3 hot laps, and a cool down lap. I did the whole day on a half a tank, so it looks like the 5 gallon tank is going to be just fine.

One problem I have been having is I have melted the flexible throttle cable twice now. From the Turbo heat. So last week I replaced the entire throttle cable housing with steel brake line. It's working just fine. Pretty hard to melt a steel tube.

I spent all day at Oregon Raceway Park yesterday. The car handled very will with the new sway bars. I also qualified for my SCCA Novice License.

Front blade is at 45deg and the rear blade (before it snapped) was pretty much flat, I am going to turn it to about 15deg when I fit the new one tonight.
