Hi folks,
Pretty simple i'm sure, but i've had no luck finding them on a google search.
Basically, i am after a subwoofer that i can fit under the rear seat, but i can't find them small enough! I don't want it in the boot, nor do i want to remove the rear seat, so it does need to be quite precise!
Anybody had any luck with this?

Just google 'under seat subwoofer' many options heres one below, not sure how easy one will fit under mini seat due to the cross member!!

Are you looking for a active all in one job or simply and box with a small sub you will power from a separate amp?

Loads of Active units here, just click through the pages there has got to be at least 20 options.

But I don't think anything on the market will fit JUST under the rear seat i think they will protrude a little way out.
Best look at the specs and have a measure up.

Tymphany is one of the best speaker manufacturers in the world so its not cheap and you will need a separate amp to power it.
It would look awesome though.

I've managed to cram an old Ripspeed (I know, but it was only £20) Active Sub under my drivers seat, between the cross member and the seats' rear subframe. It can be done, and gives your bum a tickle on the deeper notes

Whoops, i thought i replied to this :S
What i am after is a sub small enough to fit in a purpose made "box" under the REAR seat, that would look something similar to having a speaker board down there, if that makes sense?
With that, i would then try and mount a couple of small speakers in place of the air vents in my dash plus the 6x9's on the parcel shelf (the holes were already there, crudely cut!)

6.5in subs will go under the rear seats, and your purpose made "box" can be called an enclosure for short lol.

Small speakers in the air vents is fine aslong as the sub can produce low enough for your needs. ideally you should get comps at the front (tweets above the dash).

Drop the 6x9's and cover the holes!. - spend the money you have saved on the other kit you mention.

When you build the enclosure you want to make it nice and sturdy - with enough capacity for the planned sub.

Do you want to run two subs (one each side) or just the one?

http://www.tb-speaker.com/ - these make some good quality, reasonable priced subs that will fit - i believe you can go for 6.5" or 6x9 subwoofers - but dont quote me on that - measure before buying to check

See this is why information is key everyone including me thought you wanted an active sub... Anyway

What's the budget and what amp are you using?

not sure whether they will fit, but your only bet would be to find a shallow mount sub...the only good ones i know of are Earthquake's, Rockford Fosgate, Pioneer or Alpine

you need to measure the distance/clearance you have, then look at the size of sub and allow some extra room for the sub to flex

Hadn't thought about using a sub face up.

The best shallow subs out there are the Phase Linear Aliante 10, and 12", and they can be used 'Free Air'. So a small open sided mounting can be used.

never really looked into phase so i wouldnt know, but end of the day, may have to do your research in2 size vs sound quality sub wise as im pretty sure there isnt as much space under a mini seat compared to that of modern day cars which have them as standard

Yes it is very tight, under the rear seats is more workable...

I didn't want to take up boot space with a sub either.

 

I made an under seat speaker board

And installed two 6" sub's.  

The volume of space under the rear seat met the air volume requirements of the subs

 

I have 6" mids on the back shelf and in the doors https://absmotorspor...er-pocket-pair/

I mounted my tweets near the top forward corner of the door card.  They came with an angled collar so I could point them inward a bit

 

I have my main amp in the boot against the back seat (mids and tweets).  I have an amp for the subs mounted in the boot on the underside of the rear shelf

 

I put my crossovers on the backside of the board that the subs are mounted too

 

It all works pretty good
