Has anyone tried putting in those threaded rivets and then putting in this rubber stopper? Does it work?

I would not as the stops need to be fitted correctly rather than however they end up in the fixed thread.
they are meant to be tightened into place by pulling them up via a nut rather than twisting them into place by trying to shear the rubber of the plate.
