Try one of those little sockets, but problem is finding a way to reach them with your hands. But most times they're not very tight and you can undo them easily whiggling the bump stop, refitting will be awkward though.
I usually do them when replacing cones, so i remove top arm at the same to give it a clean and check, then replace bump stops and knuckle joints too..

To remove them use a slicing disc in an angle grinder and to fit new one's get them as tight as possible (this works on standard one's, not sure about poly one's) and then tack a spot of weld on the metal part to the subframe.

What I've always done is use a tiny 7/16th spanner to hold the nut and screw/unscrew the bump stop. Or if it won't shift or the rubber part comes away, it's out with the grinder.

You can put a bend into a small spanner to get at them. Not the cleverest design. The hydro bump stops and the competition Aeon stops fit over the top arm - worth considering!

Before I done this earlier I checked here, so thought I'd update it for future searches. I wanted to remove the thick washer so loosened it up a bit with some grips, just turning it a bit, the nut was quite tight on so I needed to get a spanner on it. I used a small 11mm and managed to get it on the nut. The suspension is fully assembled, space is a bit tight but works fine. Undone the bump stop by turning it with my free hand, removed washer and then threaded it back into nut still being held with spanner in other hand..! Other side was the same, took about 2 mins...! I don't have the smallest hands in the world either.

Thanks for the update, I’m going to attempt this myself without disassembling the suspension...

Absolutely no need to dismantle the suspension, creativity may be required but it is probably a Haynes half spanner task. The problem is what else might you see?Have fun,Steve..

So a stubby 11mm spanner should do the job?

I used an old thin spanner which I bent to fit. It's a right pain but can be done. Fingers will be cut that's guaranteed!!!

You won't find many metric fittings on a Classic Mini .. invest in a set of AF spanners/sockets!

Thanks, I mentioned an 11 as someone above said that would fit. I've already got standard spanners and sockets in metric and imperial- but no stubby spanners yet. Since metric stubby spanners may come in more useful, I'd rather buy them, than have to buy two stubby sets!
