That'll explain why I put a hole in my hand when the guy helping me load one into the boot of my mum's new clio couldn't cope and dropped it, I managed to get my hand under the gearbox fins to protect her car, nipped a little bit that one 😂

On the subject of kerb weights, weren't the very early Mk1s made of a slightly thinner gauge steel and therefore had a lower kerb weight. I remember people searching for 59 (and possibly 60) shells decades ago to use in race cars.

   I have always understood that to be the case with the 59 and early '60 shells, I have one at a sort of rolling shell stage so can't weigh the bare shell, but will get the digi caliper on the metal and compare.

 

One for the list;    MK3 shell tubbed and cut for 13 inch wheels, otherwise standard completely bare in primer 150kg

 

Thats accurate to 5kg, I took it to my pet weigh bridge in a JCB loading shovel bucket....they wondered what the hell...

What about rear subframe weight, for those putting on a rear beam assembly ??
