yes left side machined for starter. Even then the standard one can be a tight fit so I fitted a high torque starter from Brise which has a smaller body.

I will be following progress with considerable interest.
I assume the intake trumpets will be sticking out the front? Good for collecting air, but also good at ingesting dirt. Or is it going in a Clubman?
The trumpets are not fitted correctly in the picture. The ridge on the trumpets locate in the recess in the bore of the carb body so they should sit 20-30mm further in so they might fit under a clubman front end. But there are shorter ram pipes available if they are still too long.

Yep I only used them for the photo as I already had them in arms reach

This clubbie estate was around in the 80s and was featured in CCC. I haven't seen it for a long while, IIRC it went to Japan.

I'm confused
just looking at Lotus Twin Cams and it's all facing the same way as mine?
My bad .. thought is was an a-series block with twinky head .. so that's a Ford engine mated to a mini gearbox ?

Thanks, I can't wait! I love A series and none of the other conversions have ever appealed to me, apart from this one, but never thought I'd actually be doing it

Not many conversions look right, in fact many using modern engines look as if a blind person just scooped up all the ancillaries and threw them in. Not because of bad engineering in most cases, just because there are an indecent amount of vital bits to find homes for. But the Ford engines, being old, have very little of that.

The complete assembly looks very convincing, but slightly on the tall side. I am still thinking about this approach for my next Mini, because a Ford engine would not need a high state of tune and so could be lightly stressed and have a long life. Also fitting modern engine management, with mapped timing and fuelling, is easier with an 8 port crossflow.
