I had this problem recently with my '93 Sprite, turned out to be the engine earth strap was loose were it was attached the the top engine steady.

Same battery which about 4 years old so it may well be worn out but only started since i done the rear subframe

You may very well have disturbed the negative connection from the battery to the boot floor. Might be worth checking that, and the engine earth strap as mentioned before.

Plus there have been some good replies early on.
