What does it feel like?

On the photos it looks its it 5mm thick or more so it'll take a while to dry.

It's slightly tacky in parts, but parts of it look much better. It was my first time using the WaxOyl to underseal the car like this so i'd probably do things differently if I was to do it again. I'm going to be driving it tomorrow (work, unfortunately) so I hope I don't lose any of it before it dries. O_O

In terms of sealing the inside of the sills how is this done? I was advised to run the tube into the square hole that is often used for jacking the car up with the Rover jack, however there was no room to feed a tube up into this - it was sealed. Does anyone have a picture of where I would put the tube?

Cheers.

Sorry for the late reply;

It must've been around 2 weeks ago that I did it. Not sure how long it took to dry, because, if I'm honest, I completely forgot about it.

But none of it has come off, and I didn't drive it until the day after. If you've done yours Saturday, then it will most likely be dry by tomorrow morning, easily :)

Simon.

To do the inside of the cills you need the waxoyl extension probe hose I think its called. Then with that you can unbolt the bottom seatbelt mount and spray it in through there.

What some people also do is drill a couple of holes in the inner sill inside the car, spray the waxoyl in and then put grommets over the holes.

Please don't take this the wrong way but i think you have been a bit heavy handed with the treatment. It will certainly keep the muck at bay but because there is so much on there it will always stand out.

If i was you leave it for now until winter has got its self out of the way then maybe in the new year you can remove some of it. Where you have brushed it in the inside of the boot floor i would remove that as the carpet or boot covering will get coated in wax. There looks like there was some minor surface rust in the wheel well, did you treat that at all or just put the waxoyl over it?? Clean it up treat the rust then paint it.The waxoyl will never go truly transparent and certainly with the amount you have put on never will.

Like i said though don't despair you will give your car a fighting chance to come out of the winter period in good order.

With that coat of waxoyl, it'll be alright for the next 20 years :teehee:

Nothing really to worry about though, at least it's protected.

I'd say that waxoyl never really goes truly transparent anyway.

Thanks Rob, that does make sense.

Unfortunately I have ran out of WaxOyl now, although I do have the extension hose probe (that I never managed to use). Do they sell clear WaxOyl in any smaller tins than 2.5L? This would be just for the sills.
