£1000?! Christ, someones getting ripped off!

Rigs can be bought/made for WAY less than £1000. Hell, mine has barely cost me £200 (Not including the lens). I can build you a 14ft(optimum length) or 15/16ft boom for about £150

Built ours for £580, to buy a decent automotive rig you're looking 1k easily though.
I'm guessing by the way you mention 'not including the lens' when talking about rigs, you're main income lies elsewhere? We specialise in automotive photography, our rigs are on £££££££'s of cars, for some pretty big name companies. We cant skimp unfortunately!

Just sat and read throug this entire thread again, an still can't believe people on the mini scene don't know what a good stance is. It's not about just lowering your car, it's about modifying it to get your car sitting well on (or over) its wheels.

Oh and to the people out there Who were still arguing about bags and air ride etc. you can use a low car every day, just some people aren't hard core enough to do it. If you want to live the low lifestyle, at least do it properly. What's cool about taking the easy way out? Instead of just dealing with it

I don't really understand your last point...

So what you're saying is that bags are the easy way out? Have you ever looked into how Air bags are fitted/work? Seems like a whole lot of trouble to go through for the "Easy way out".

I gave up trying to explain..

How did you build your rig? I'm interested in making one as I don't want to pay 1k for it!!

I'm a photography student working night shift at B&Q.

What material are you using? I'm assuming it's carbon if you're spending that much.

My rig was built on quite a tight budget, hence why I opted not to use the Manfrotto suction cups and went for something that saved me money, but still done the same job. The only area I'm not skimping on is how my camera is attatched to the boom, going for the Manfrotto Magic Arm rather than the cheapo Chinese copies.

Ahh right, not bad!

An aluminium/titanium composite! Too much flex in carbon. Our suction cups were 160 each though, as they have a wide footprint, and an electric pump to pull the air out of all three at the flick of a switch. We need to be able to trust it, if it falls off and shoves a dent in a lamborghini, or one off kit car, it's our neck on the line!
Any 900 degree head with a long plate on it works well - we actually used to use a bracket for side mounting flashes! Using an MFMA now though!
