Hi all
I am going to try and get the history on my mini by completing a V888 form from the DVLA. However, it states that a "just reason" is needed. I just wondered if anyone had succesfully got these details in the past and if so, was the reason needed a flambouyant one?
Thanks in advance
Craig

this topic has come up before on VZI, most people are just honest and say that they would like a bit of history to go with the car they are restoring

I do a V888 for any Mini I buy. I just state that it is a classic car and I would like to know its history. To date, I have never had a problem.

Same as above, I was just honest and said I was trying to gain as much history as possible about my car.

Brilliant, that will be a lot eaqsier then. How do you specify the dates so that you get every owner as it looks like you have to specify a paticular date on the form?
Thanks a lot.

I just ask for all the names and address of the previous owners. They send me copies off all the information on the previous owners that they hold. They used to not only send me the names and address of the previous owners, but also their signatures! Thankfully, over the last few years someone at DVLA realised this wasn’t a good idea so signatures are now blanked out.

Tell them you are trying to compile a comprehensive set of paperwork as it's a classic car that you intend to restore, therefore you would like the names and addresses of all previous keepers.
Either that, or tell them that you are training to be a stalker and thought that this was a good way of starting off?
