Is there no one back in the UK that could take this up for you? At a push you could try talking to the local council's trading standards dept. - at least that would help substantiate your claims, and their responses, so you have something to follow up when you get home.
Thanks, this is something I'll look into. However, I won't go down this road until I've written to Mr Raven announcing my intention to do this. As one of the previous replies mentions, it's not on to do something like this without informing the subject first. I shall have to contain my frustration until I get home next year!
Greg.

Have a look at the small claims online. Evidence is only required if they contest the claim. All you have to do is state what happened. The legal stuff starts much later. You could have the form completed in 5 minutes.

Sorry I didn't see some of the posts above. Yes, you need to write first stating what you are going to do. Emailing is sufficient.

Trading standards only investigate if it is a repeat offender.

I agree that care should be taken regarding these sort of posts, we also as a community should be looking at how we can protect ourselves against bad traders.
I have personal experience of Mike Raven at Classic Minis. He sold me a car which took months for him to deliver and has subsequently turned out to be a death trap and only fit for the scrap yard. He has not responded to any correspondence from me.
I'm more than happy to provide a copy of an RAC report I had done on the car should anyone doubt this.
Worryingly, the car was provided with a fresh MOT from a nearby garage used by Mike. How many more cars are on the road that shouldn't be?
If by posting on here it stops one person from losing money or worse still being involved in an accident as a result of one of Mike's dodgy cars then good.
I had known Mike for some time prior to this episode and was happy with his work, he's obviously hit hard times but that's no excuse for ripping off and putting peoples lives at risk.

This is an old thread but I hope I can jump in and say no, definitely not. Kevin Fulbrook (also ex John Cooper Garages) and Sussex Road and Race are very highly regarded.
