didnt you know a dining room table is a must have in mechanics!!

mark what needs machining on the drive shaft? thanks for that i would have replaced them!

yeah i wasnt happy when i recieved the frame and those hacksaw cut spacers but i can make them so im no too fussed. the frame is fine it all measures up!

gaz i would ring chris at zcars for a price as it varies, i got it for £500 with the rear kit!

I much prefere the mini engine front frame. Thats the one i thought was going to turn up but instead the honda engine frame came instead. i did notice the suspension was hard to get at but ive a c spanner to fit. they dont have lock nuts on the suspension like normal coil over shockers, it worried me a little but none of the other fellas have had problems so its ok!

Dean, split your cv joints from the shafts, put the splined end in the lathe and part off most of the cone/tapered section but leave about 2 mm of it so there is no chance of your oil seals falling out.
It is quite hard steel so you will need a good sharp tool!!!
If you have a look back in my project (I reckon about page 8-10)you will see a pic of my hubs assembled but i forgot to leave the tapered bit on but it should be ok.
I also drilled and tapped the stubs to accept a M10 bolt as you will have something to stop the assembly spinning when tightening the bearings up.
I also put 4 M6 bolt's in one of them for the Stack speedo sensor aswell

Cheers

im more than likely going to use the evo dash, do you know if they all run the same i.e same amount of sensor studs?

whilst its been quiet at work over the last couple of days i got on with soting out the stub axles and modifying them to suit a magnetic speed sensor. i found that walkin round with a piece of paper might look like your busy but by 4.30 i have no legs left! so working on the mini bits keeps me busy and sane,

This might not help many people who havent got a lathe to hand but as its part of the build i thought i would add it. tell me if its too much build information or getting boring!

there was lots of the cv case to remove, it would take too long to remove it on the lasthe so i tried it in the band saw. It cut through quite well and although it wasnt dead accurate, it will be finished later in the lathe

next was to line up the the stub axle in the lathe and cut skim it down. Markrally said it was best to leave some of the tapper on to be sure the seal wouldnt come off. i left 2.5mm of taper cheers for that buddy (as shown in pic)

next was to mark the holes to be drilled for the studs, tap and using lock tight to secure in position. (shown below)

is it better for slower connection users if i do it like this or should i continue putting them on photo bucket?

Useful kit to have knocking around. Hopefully, will be getting my own lathe soon so i can do bits and pieces.

Looks like you are doing a good job mate, but i hope you realise those 4 allen bolts are adding extra weight to your motor!! >:dontgetit: > :ermm: ^_^

so that your magnetic speed sensor can take a reading of your speed

Fair play dale, there isnt one of your post's that doesnt mention weight saving!!! Your addicted.
I saw a collection of photos today which had ladies naked but were actually wearing paint on race suits at a touring car promotion day, (i will try to post them tomorrow)
Could be an idea for you for drag wars as you will win the man in drag contest at least!!!

Dean, those stub axles are spot on mate, dont forget the M10 thread in the middle to help you assemble the hubs until can drop the car on its wheels and torque the bearings sufficently. You can then remove the M10 bolt and fill it with grease(to prevent corrosion in case you have to use it again) knowing you have saved a bit of weight.

Cheers

And not made the mistake i made an machine off the taper!!!
