Dunno for sure in this instance, but its usually the case where the paddle shift is effectively moving the 'manual' gearleaver, rather than directly controlling the gearbox. So you keep the manual lever incase the paddle shift breaks - thats how they do it on rally cars too.

You can only do this with sequential gearboxes because they are ... well... sequential :- rather than in a 'H' pattern. This is effectively a proper paddle shift, rather than a semi automatic with a paddle shift which some modern cars have which is rather different.

Indeed people, i wanted to keep the manual shift just incase there is a malfunction with the solenoid. This way i can swap The linkages and get it home again. I think im going to leave the gearstick linkage removed as the extra pull on the solenoid might damage it or cause increased rate of wear. Also if the geatstick linkage was connetted with the solenoid, speed of gear change may welll take alot longer. I will test this when ive finished the wiring. Oh yeah and bought the shifter unit!

Alright giz
I will get it out the weekend as it looks a mess in the garage at the minute, will take a pic then.

Evening, how are we all?!!
I thought i would put a couple of progress pics up and a vid of the car so far. Ive only had saturday and this afternoon on it. It doesnt look like im getting anywhere but as you all know, its all the fidley bits now.

Ive attatched the fuel regulater and gaugae to the rear of the frame so ther is less vibration. ive tried to adjust the regulater but it doesnt seem to? I know its all piped up right. Could it just be a C**p unit? Also any idea what i can do to the hoses to hide them?

Are you going to have to take it all apart again to have it painted?

Ive already done all the inside apart from the back valance that shouldnt be a problem to stonechip and spray, ther is plenty of room.

yeah i figured the inside isnt that importnant, besides with the stonechip throughout it looks a good finish, kinda different and it has sound deadening qualitues. yeah im moulding the arches thats why ive changed my mind on the front end

just a bit of an update.

- exhaust away getting shortend slighty so it fits in the valance and the end tube is being extended ( wont be back till the end of next week)
- Dash, door carts and steerig column cover are away at the upholsteres. Not ready till the end of next week too grrrr!
- Made up brackets for the braided hoses to attatch to
- all the wiring is cleaned up inside the car and the wiring module installed which is hinged for accessA hole was drilled through the cross section and all the wiring is covered with various sizes of truncking. all the lights need wiring up but that can be 1 of the last jobs, just want it moving now!!!
- I fitted the speed sensor usind a piece of plate mounted on the external side of the hub. A 5mm hole drilled in each side then tapped out so 6mm allen key bolts could be install. Plenty of clearance from the calipers and adjustment rods.
