I paid in advance to have the loom modified but in hindsite i should have had a go at it myself, ive paid now so i well. I think what put me off if lack of confidence on cdi petrol engines, im used to dirty great 15litre diesel beasties. whilst stripping the loom off i realised how easy it was compared to the 20ft long 200 plug wiring looms that i work with every day!!!! It looks like the bike had an immobiliser at some point as the loom is a little damage which i hope chris will tidy up for me.

Late this afternoon i removed the mikuni carbs and began cleaning the engine. It cleaned up really well but that got me thinking...... as there are loads of hoses covering the engine, im going to change them or most to blue samco hoses or the nearest (cheaper) alternative, also like the 2005/2006 engines i want to coat the block in black gloss or satin like the cluth cover. that with the blue hoses will look awesome on the black background BUT i could do all this and the engine could be damaged!!! i think im happy with taking that risk though what do you recon? As the engines are water cooled i assume it wont be at any temperature higher that 150oC will it?

brought the engine home friday afternoon and wrestled in the car... after 10 minutes of adjusting and sweating!!! i completely forgot that the holes needed drilling. took the engine back out and drilled the holes with a drill bits i turned down in the lathe at work.
dragged the engine back into the car today and fitted it. the top mouting was a couple of mm out and no matter how i manuvered the engine it just wouldnt got, after an out of f'ing a jeeffing i got it in!! re-atttatched the carbs and piped in a few things.
there is a few pipes im confussed about, sorry if this is obvious and im just being a pleb. Ive looked through the the manual but it still doesnt make it any clear.........
where dot he 2 red arrowed piped attatch to?

Currently working on my clubman for stock car racing, check out http://forums.bit-te...?...age=1&pp=20
when ive done my little monster wif her 1098/1275 ill prolly get power hungry and pop another motor in the back, thinking of welding a subframe myself and putting another mini in the back so i gots two of the same motors, makes maintenance waaaay easier ya see?
Cheers and dont lose hope man!

not much to report really at the minute. Just been measuring up to get all the coolant hoses. ive gotta say chris's kit a zcars seems expensive but when you start getting down to it and adding up all the individual hoses and reducers its not bad at all, but like i said further down the build i would like to source alot of parts myself and make it individual.
Also i got my loom back from chris and bloody hell its small, i was expecting it to be a little smaller but not like that! very pleased though as thats another bit out the way.

have a few question. obviously the rectifier is still used but was a bit confused because i sent the regulater witht he loom (sent everything) but never got it back?!! Also ive noticed the exup connection has not been removed, are you all just replacing the motor or can you leave this unplugged?
anyone working to any particular wiring diagram? could you give me a link to any helpful links? thanks guys

The exup wireing 5 or 6 wire plug you have a choice, you can ignore it if you aint using the r1 clocks as when its missing the ecu sends the rev counter loopy its called the tacho tango . or you can plug the servo motor in to stop it. or as i have done build a digital potensiometer (spelling) this tricks the ecu into thinking that the exup valve is opening and closing corectly.
The ecu looks for the exup valve when you turn the ignition on and when its not detected it sends the rev counter up and down between 1k and 8k to tell you there is a fault.
Some say that the ecu runs in a flat map mode without the exup, not sure myself on the carb model like yours
Ps there is a R1 forum let me know if you want the link
Cheers ian
