Yes they visit lots of local shows over the summer months and have trips out and BBQ's and we also do some of the bigger shows having camping weekends and runs.

Have you got your engine back yet bud, i am starting on mine now so should be fun today at least i can get on now, going to have a go at this cam timing i will upload some photo'sAh! so its an MG metro cam then... in my opinion its just about the best standard cam that was fitted to the A series engine. Not sure you need to worry about timing it in to any real accuracy though.. dot to dot should be fine. But if you've got the DTI and timing wheel then it certainly wont do any harm..My 1312 engine block is still at the machine shop so im enjoying looking at this build.. just want to get torn into mine now!!

Ok Bud sorry to hear about the head, i am stumped at the first thing i have got the gallery plugs in but the cam locking plate is there a special way round for it it has a small hole to one side i have it on the leftNope its still away! I got the Cooper S head back tho' Its a door stop now!! They found a tiny crack next to the water jacket between chambers 2 and 3...Bugger!! Hope the cam timing goes smoothly for you...Its a bit of a faf to get your head round, but once you get it done you will wonder what all the fuss is about...Best bit of advice just now would be to preload your DTI..by one revolution on the dial and then zero the needle...will give you totally accurate readings both ways then...Im not very good at explaining things, so hopefully Uncle Coops will be along later...If not Ill do my best..

Right i have done this stupid cam timing what a fart about i get 122 degrees on the first reading then 96 degrees
so difference is 26 half that add 13 to the lower figure is 109 i have only done it once i will do it again and see if i get the same figure so if the metro rover cam is 110 i am only 1 degree out so is that okkkkkkk

When you fit the timing cover don't forget the oil thrower ring and get that on the correct way round. It's dished and the outside edge goes as close to the chain as possible, if you see what I mean 'arry (as Frank Bruno might say). Don't over-tighten the timing cover bolts as that squashes the gasket and causes leaks. a really good smear of Hylomar around that gasket is always good. I usually use RTV silicone sealant as a timing cover leak is a real buggeration. Also make sure the oil seal in the cover is properly fitted. Then fit the front pulley with a new lock tab, although for all the good this tab is I don't know why we bother. I always use some Loctite on the front pulley bolt after making sure all the threads are oil free and do it up 'good and tight'.
Any more questions just ask.
