You really are getting on great with this, hope it gives some of the younger members the confidence to tackle this sort of work...Not that we are old of course....well maybe a bit!!

i have fitted the water pump with gasket and RTV sealant i had been leaking from the bottom before , it wont now, and i have lapped the pressure plate, have a nice grey dull finish on the taper so jobs a good un photo to follow,
as for having a go why not,it's not rocket sicence is it just the cam timing

How have you found the build so far? Has it been 'straight forward' so to speak? I imagine once you have stripped it its not to bad to reassemble just need the ordering right?

Yeah hi bud it's not bad, just hate waiting for parts, i always wanted to re-build an engine, this was a matter of having to, i have had a lot of advice of TMF and glad of it, nothing has stumpped me yet, mind the cam timing might be a little dodgy, but enjoying it, how far are you on , parts at the machine shopLooks like this is coming along more than nicely! Now in the process of getting my first engine/heads/crank e.t.c
going to go for a fast road 998 to replace the one in my 30

Beat me to it, yeah break it down doddleif you split the box and head off will be easy for one to lift, if not 2 can lift it in and out
