all holes lined up, but 1 without the oil hole was a better shape, so with a 1/2'' brush with the bristles trimmed in half to make it stiffer i put a thin layer of hylomar around the edge of the block mating face, placed the gaskets on and then another thin layer on the gasket which is the mating face to the gearbox, the half moon crankshaft oil seal seemed to be a little long and i was tempted to trim it to a better length, but i had second thoughts and hoped the weight of the box would compress it, so as cooperman instructed
i put a small blob of rtv silicone at each end of the seal, and a fine line around the main bearing face where the seal sits, plonked the garbox on clamped it down and jobs a good un, just hope now it dont leak, as the gearbox was now at a working height i fitted
a aloy gearcase bush and a new oil seal to the gear rod, just as well i did there were 3 oil seals rammed in, and it still used to drip
i need to get the engine the right way up now, that should be a laugh.

Ha Ha! yes I forgot this seal and had to take it apart again...and then fitted the half moon seal the wrong way round and had to strip it yet again...the joys!!It's going well. You certainly put the half-moon seal in corectly. Hope you remembered the small O-ring between block and gearbox faces - please say "Yes".
