hi im after some help from any one who knows much about citron saxo 1.6 vtr 's

me & my mate purchased one for £200 part ex with the intention of breaking it for spares. though looking at it properly the car is in very good condition with reasonable mileage with tax & mot so having a go at fixing the electrical faults.
although it ran & drove ok it was a fire waiting to happen

firstly the chav who had it wired an amp lead from the battery with no fuses inside along the inner sill under the seat rail which got crushed , splitting the wires making full contact on the shell >_<
the amp, door speakers & parcel shelf speaker wiring was twisted in together with tape over the top ( tape was hanging off so shorting out lots) the back of the stereo looked as if it was on fire at some point or close too .
slight melting to wiring loom behind dash too . surprisingly no fuses broke :ohno: ? ?

iv removed all the sh#t wires they fitted, cut back the bad wires & replaced on the wiring loom
got the electric windows working (they didn't before)
every thing works on the car now except the rev counter, fuel gauge & temp gauge there is power there,
wen the engine is started all the non working dials jump to just above the 0 , cold , empty lines but nothing else
the fuel gauge empty light is on although there's 1/2 a tank in there

bit baffled on wht i should try next before i try a new dial set any ideas please ???

If it was me i would be tracking every cable back checking for continuity and if it all is ok i would then buy a new unit but as they all are not working i would suspect it will be something wiring related rather than the cluster, it might be just worth you rewiring the cluster again just to know that all is ok with it
