Once sill and A panel are on, I can tackle the other side.

Looking very nice jordie what motor are you going for? I've just picked up my donor car a 160 zr so going the same direction now. Are you going home built or bought frame?

Keep up the good work, Darren

Its a 1.8 VVC (i assume its 143bhp?)

Ive got a home built modified metro frame, keeping the metro running gear etc.

Ah nice the only reason I'm going home built mini frame is to keep my wellers or I would be going metro frame

Jordie, tell me, any reason why you left the jacking holes on the sill or did you welded in a jacking point?

Theres a larger hole near the B post which was left open on the original ones, so ive assumed its left open on the replacements.

Both sides are the same.

The car has never been welded from new until now.

understood, as I am doing an estate now, I might weld a jacking point where that hole is on each side, wont see it but if one day it is needed there will be some strength there.

cheers

Id never jack from there, but its orignality and that so kept them. I added a seam of weld to them just to beef them up before fitting the new outer sill.

I just need to finish the spot welds onto the door step and that sill is just about finished for now. Move onto the A panel. probally get that done at the weekend.

see what you mean now with not using that hole, was just a thought. Ace project by the way and lucky to find him in such a good state. Have fun with yr a-panel. ;D

Yeah it was ideal for me as I couldnt weld. i still dont think of myself as a welder, but i can get metal to stick, wether it looks pretty is another thing, but hey, thats what a grinder is for.

Progress been a little slow this month, due to other cars, stuff going on etc. Hopefully get a good crack at it on sunday.

Spot welded the door step to sill, but wasnt happy with it, maybe need to look at that again in future, spot welder didnt seem right.

Anyway, on went the A panel. Havent got the tool with me so had to resort to hammering the lip over and then using grips with a block of wood to pull the lip in tight.

Gave it a splash of blue paint to protect it from rusting.

Started cutting out NS floor and then the grinder went kaput! doh!
