Looks really really good man, sooo lovely and clean  Will the mirrors be going body colour?

the only problem being that it was too low

I see no problem here  :P

Cheers mate, yeah body colour, when I pull my finger out. it's just a pain getting all the painting stuff set up just for them, I may as well spray the MPI's bonnet at the same time

Hahaha, I would love it to be low like yours but it's not very drivable. I could make the shocks a little harder...

I don't think I put these photos on here but heres my boot board and light.

My steering lock never worked so thought I should do something about it, after trying a bit of lubricant and it still not working. I ended up buying a new one with the metal barrel surround like the original but turned up and was a plastic type >_<, so another search around as most places have the plastic type now. but finally found one and arrived yesterday. the quality was better than the plastic one and I could insert the key and pull it out fairly easily unlike the plastic one. I fitted it today and tightened up the bolts and like most other parts you can buy these days it didn't fit   :w00t:. After taking some measurements you can clearly see why, the steering column is 28.5mm (or near to it.)

the top one is the "metal" one, the middle is the original and you guessed it the bottom is the plastic one.

A is the diameter between the 2 splits and B is the diameter on the ignition half. Between the original and the "metal" one there is 1.1mm so the 2 half clamp up before it clamps the column. I'm not sure if the original later plastic type ones were the same shape and sizes as the above.

I've also started doing bits on the engine build, I've had the con-rods and pistons balanced and am going to get the crank, flywheel and pulley done as well after milling slots into it for the mega jolt. The flywheel had been bashed at some point to try and remove it, so i've skimmed it and put the chamfer back on. I've also machined the primary gear bushes.

Not bad...

Looking good, did you check there was no run out on the dial gauge on the inner bush when it was still in the lathe, i.e. the two bushes are parallel?

I bored the jaws so what I was holding should be parallel and bored both bushes at the same time. I put it on the crank when I finished with DTI and was good

Sorted out my trigger wheel/pulley today, I do have a 'trigger wheels' one but I think it's best to machine the pulley. so I've taken that up to the engine balancer.

Had the "teeth" CNC'd on this fixture, so the key way inline with the missing tooth.

Then I put it on the lathe and removed some of the meat so that the sensor constantly sense the steel.

:gimme: Apart from dropping one on the second coat of paint (luckily it didn't break the glass, just a couple of digs) spraying the mirrors went quite well

Looking good Alex. Nice to see it on proper wheels :-)

I was hoping to make Castle Comb but I had my Grand Children for the weekend in Plymouth.

I Haven't driven it for a while as the weathers not been great, I've done a few things to it and done a bit to the 1293.

I booked up the MOT yesterday for the Mot today. to make it easier when I get the 1293 in, so Had to check it this morning, had to fix the rear passenger indicator, numberplate light and then it nearly didn't start like last year ... I don't think it likes MOT's ...

it passed though!!! :gimme:

Car looks great. Can I ask where you got fog and reverse lights from?
Good luck with Mot
