So time for an update, didn't make MITP and castle combe is in 4 days time... so It's going to be ready before christmas (unsure what year... )
So as you can see I got it all rolling and got some dolly's to put it on, which make moving it around hell of a lot easier.
Got the bits back from the powder coater.
Cleaned some bits and painted it.
got some more bit's from DSN
Made a few bits:
switch bracket for the fog light and brake test light since I have no room on the mk1 switch panel.
Some caps to cover the tower bolts.
Some stainless mk1 light screws and dividers. The screws are made from 3/16 stainless with 4BA thread and tapped M4 and then a M4 screw glued in, the head of the M4 screw is pretty much the same dim's as the originals.
some grease nipple covers
and done some wiring, indicators, fog light and reverse light, lots of other bits, in the pic below : added 2 more lights into the centre binnacle loom for the oil light and rear screen and part of what I need to make my hazard switch work as I'm not using a rocker switch.
installed my tank but have a gap between the tank and seal, think I'll get a MPI seal as they're thinner.
Got an MPI interior
And got some silent coat stuck in

Great work as ever Alex and what finite detail, wish I could have done mine to the same level
Nice colour too.

Cheers mate, it's good to go into detail but takes so much more time and money
Didn't get much done this weekend as we went up to castle combe and bought a few bit's, an MPI fuel tank seal, some NOS door mirrors that need spraying and a 998 clutch.
so I got the tank fitted which needed a bit of fettling.
I made some fog and reverse light brackets a while ago to.
and the past couple of evenings have been fitting more silent coat, nearly used up the 40 sheets...

I cleaned and painted the engine a while back and while I was there removed the wok to see whats it was like inside, of which it was covered in oil. So one evening I got the engine out and removed the flywheel and clutch with my Heavy Duty "Gerrof ya b'stard" Flywheel Puller from guess works but had no way of removing the seal, so dad got some 65mm ID tube cut it up and made the bolt end for it out of 6mm plate and the other a U shape with a ~48mm ID to match the gear groove and I welded together and drilled and tapped it M12. which got us something similar to the standard tool, used an old main bolt and drilled it a little to centre the tool bolt. and gave it a lick of paint

Looks sweet mate! Love the colour of the brake/clutch cylinders. Goes really well with the copper pipes and the colour of the car!

Thanks, was good to finally meet you at MITP. certainly is, slowly getting there.

Cheers mate, me too , different to the normal silver.
I've (sometimes we've) been doing some bits and bobs, the shell is pretty much polished, just need to do the doors and bonnet, some wiring, buying and other bit's and bobs. got a crank oil seal tool so fitted that and also the clutch and flywheel etc.
Tonight we stuck up the felt sound deadening that I got from http://www.woolies-trim.co.uk, the roof doesn't 'ding' much now, which I'm glad of since it has 8 sheets of silent coat and the felt as well.
and made the second stainless bit for the later type heater, I'm making new pipe bit's too out of stainless, the old ones are like a sieve.

Just read this, awesome standard of work going in to it! Huge fam of the colour and the coloured coded tank caps
Thanks Will, I what to fit the early style one I sprayed but isn't a locking one ... yet...
few pictures I found I done back along.
I fitted the door striker plate things that I got from smiffy bits at MITP (as seen in some photos above.) but had to file one out.
cleaned/refurbed the heater, but needs a bit of modifying to get to fit right as I haven't got the padded dash rails so it sticks out a mile.
When fitting the petrol tank remember to bend the little metal tags to hold wires in else you can't fit the tank very well and end up with this on the nicely painted tank (luckily you can't see it when fitted)
engine bay polished
Friday I did a few odds and sods, tightened up all the brake pipes, fitted the water pump to the engine and connected the fuel pipe.
And yesterday and today we were sorting out the headliner, I want to have a third level brake light for a bit of added safety so run 2 cables up the middle of the rear screen and with some calculations from the RITZ's brake light I drilled 3 holes, 1 in the middle for the wires and 2 for mounting it. then we hung the headliner and with many bulldog clips clipped it up and stuck it up. Easy as that .... ... .. . I still need to do around the rear window, top and bottom and stick it along the outside edges and cut it out properly. I now know why there are professionals that do .
The pictures make it look better than it is, but for my first time doing it I don't think it's that bad.
Hopefully I will get it all finished during the week then should be able to get some glass fitted next weekend maybe.

I remember doing the headlining in my car (also my first time). Took me three weeks of stretching it out before I glued it in for good. Looking good

Yeah it's a pain to get it stretched out, then trying to get rid of a crease, which another one forms because it's moved .

I feel the pain of the creasing - still have one small one on mine that I couldn't get rid of
