Needed this thread on my first resto when i had no clue where to weld...maybe because it was all rust lol!
Looking forward to the end result

Thanks, It's good to hear that the thread's coming in usefull.

It's nice to see a mini having a new life put in to it :proud:

Just read the whole thing - very nice work there! Is the plan to do something like in your signature?

Thanks Randy, Well, That was the idea, but then I changed it back to my original idea (that can be a surprise) which I'm pretty much have decided on, But then that can still change >_< .

In the week I gave the door post another coat of kurust and then a coat of hammerite. Then Today I welded in the extra peice that fits under the scuttle.
Posted Image
Which I ground down and cut straight so the flitch would fit easyer.
Posted Image
The flitch that I bought did not have the right shape at the bottom, So I cut it off and welded on a new peice, I can then cut it to fit the shape of the other peice after I've welded the flitch on.
Posted Image
Then I made a small repair to go on the bottom of the door post as the was a hole and it was thin.
Posted Image
Joggled the old flitch and punched hole's.
Posted Image
Then after a lot of fiddling and adjusting I tacked it in :gimme: .

That's it for today, But tomorrow we should be able to fully weld it in and start on the door step.

Alex

Nice one Alex, before doing anymore welding there, get a door in position and tighten it up and see what your door gaps are near the B-post,.......

Cheer's Darren,
I didn't test fit the door as the door stiffner was braced, So I welded the flitch in, It doesn't help having the welding settings on maximum one >_<
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image
Then I set about removing the door step and the old outer sill.
Posted Image
While I was doing that Dad was making the jacking point. Which Was made from 2mm angle that we used for the brace. Which I then welded up.
