i am fitting my new engine tomorrow, but in a week or so, i would like to fit an omex rev limiter with launch control, my quetion is what is the difference between single and twin coil, as there is two options to buying it, and i have the lucas GCL105 (DLB105), i am getting quite frustrated with understanding this, so could someone please shed some light on this situation? :)

cheers ash

Just as it suggests. One coil or two? You need the single coil unit.

Some setups have one coil (mini) some have two coils (alfa twin spark etc). One system has connections for one, the other two. Simples!!

How are you going about the launch control mate? Have you got wheel speed censors? Id of thought youd of needed ABS to stop the wheels from spinning to get the power down, thats if your not running an LSD.

Could be good!

nah can't afford the LSD right now, i might do in a few months or so maybe after christmas somewhen, but i'm still thinking of the rev limiter, i am waiting for my mate to get back from his army training thing so he can order it for me ( long story :/ )

but i'll just leave the launch control unplugged or switched off for the time being :)

All the launch control does is limit your rev's to the perfect RPM to get off the line with minimal wheel spin doesn't it? Its not traction control - It doesn't monitor wheel slip levels and make adjustments it just literally stops you from revving it too high before the clutch is engaged when you launch, so you don't wheel spin.

You do a few tests, see what RPM you get the best launches at with minimal wheelspin and then set it at that.

That's my understanding of an aftermarket launch control system anyway.

Twin coil is typically going to be a distributorless wasted spark setup, like the MPI Mini.
