Okay so I've had my Mini like half a year now so obviously I really dont know anything about them. I bought it will an aluminium tread-plate grill that looks awful and has a patter badly cut-out of it. I have got a grille that the previous owner had in his spares but I cant see how it would fit.

Basically I think that either the grille I've got just simply is from the wrong age or the place in which the grille is meant to fit on has been modified, but I don't know which.

Here is my mini and the grille I have spare:

any help/ suggestions would be greatly appreciated, cheeeers :D

The black grille is from a later Mini, therefore the holes for the screws may not line up with yours.

You need to drill new holes for the grille. You'll also need the chrome surrounds for it.

The side ones just slot into the grille, but the top lip is missing from your Minis bonnet. You need this lip for the top grille surround to fit onto.

Or just buy the grille surrounds as they're cheaper then a Mk1 grille :dozing:

Okey firstly thanks for all the replies! I would consider trying to fit the grille I have as I already have the chrome sides but frankly I dont trust myself drilling any holes.

I was thinking of just trying to sell the grill I have along with the chrome parts and buying a mk1 grille. Would a mk1 grill just fit straight in there and be held in on the two bolts that come out of the horizontal parts on the frame? Or is this where I will need the grille buttons?

Sorry if im being real stupid haha! Cheeers :proud:

the grill buttons weather fitted to MK1 or later grills save you drilling and fitting all the little self tapping screws

Right so do you recon if I was to buy some of these would they just go in to the holes under the bolts that are already on there? and I take it the buttons just screw into a thread??

No, to fit grille buttons you would need to drill two holes in your front panel and two corresponding holes in your grille, it's explained here in this thread: http://www.theminifo...1

Ahh nice man, the pictures helped alot thanks, I think what im going to do is modify the grill I have so that the bits the chrome parts go onto are gone so that it fits nicely in the deep area. I dont want any chrome on it really as my mini is de-bumpered and there isnt really any chrome on it apart from the handles and headlights! Cheers guys, will try and remember to post up a picture if I ever get round to doing this! ;D
