Well I managed to grab a couple more hours in the mancave today, so built up a few more layers on the dash.

I built up thin layers of filler to fill any discretions, and sanded the whole lot back with a block and paper.

The photo below is how it stands, and shows how much the centre part of the dash was sunk and uneven. Overall the fibreglass is probably about 2mm thick, and the filler about 0.5mm thick.

Another small step in the right direction!

Is indeed based around a Mk1 Escort. Seems crazy to think people used to break Mk1 Escorts to build these kits!

Now a lot of the Jagos are being broken for parts for Escorts. Full circle! lol

Still snatching the odd hour here and there to work on the dash!

So my high build primer turned up today, so the dash looked like this about 2.30...

Posted Image

After sanding it back with 600 grit wet and dry, and adding a couple of more layers I hit it with some satin black paint I had laying about...

Posted Image

After sanding it back, and filling it a touch more I then sprayed it with some dark metallic silver I again had laying about!

I then added a couple of quick coats of laquer, and went about re-fitting the clocks...

I am yet to re-fit the dash fully as I still need to purchase some switches and decide where to fit them! I have losely fitted it back in place though, although Im not sold of the colour, so may sand it back down and spray it a different colour...

This can wait until I have fitted the switches though as Im bound to get some chips etc when I drill them!

So at the end of play tonight it looks like this...

Now to decide on where to place the switches!

i think it was, it was very flimsy to be honest, front bent as you can see in the photo.

We got this for a project to help out a friend, but then decided we had enough stuff to finish and gave him it back. it had the telephone style radio in it, jerry cans on sides, shovels and axe etc on the side too. proper army styley.

Ahh fair game. Quite a feew people go the army route, which is what I was going to do first... but once I got it I couldn't bring myself to drab it and rip it apart! lol

Excellent! The Geep is back! I like what you've done with the dash but I too am not convinced by the colour of it yet. Maybe red to match the body?
