This is the look I'm after
.Posted Image

So basically the body work will flair out at the bottom so I wont need bolt on arches.

It's possible but not something you'd achieve without a serious amout of work. I've trying to figure something similar for my estate so I'll let you know how I get on.

Cheers. I'm sure it can be done its just finding a way of doing it. Theirs a company not far from me that do work on VWs and they do arch rolling so may go and speak to them and see if they have any ideas.

Scene of the euro, the only reason stabilizer bars are bent upwards curved seams so that removes the sharp edge, it stops the rubber to be cut.

The trouble with mk1 golf arches is that the raduis of tje arch is a bit big for mini whhels (google a mk1 golf running 175/50/13's and look at the gap at the front and rear edges of the arch). You'd prob be better with the arches off of a mk2 polo coupe or loon.

but you'd get the same effect just blending in a set of grp2's with the lip taken off

What size tyres are you trying to hide?

The wheels are most probably gonna be 10x6 wellers on the front and 10x7 wellers on the rear. I'm not too keen on the idea of blending the arches in really. They tend to crack after a while.

If you want a tucked tyre style arch, its easy on the front, just get two steel trailer arches and cut them in half lengthways so you end up with four arches made of steel, then profile and curl them to fit the body, measure your original arches to match the new steel, and with a joggler, create a lip in the body to fit the arch with an overlap and weld on, this gives you a lipless arch. then you can roll out the shape that you want. Easyish to do on the front, but should be deseamed first, but you will still have to tub the rears first.and ideally also deseam. A lot of work, but its worth it.

Mind you, with all the skills required here, If you have access to an English wheel, just make them from flat steel to whatever shape/profile you want.

This has been done with a similar technique, but not rolled. the side skirts are also in steel and the bumpers have been blended in too to create a very subtle home brew body kit.

This is not my work, i would have also blended the arches to the side skirts better if it was!

I do have possession of this shell and hope to make improvements to the mods before a repaint and rebuild.

I've been thinking about this whilst driving home.

1st off, couple of technicalities, rolling arches means taking the horizontal edge to a 'normal cars' wheel arch (pokes inside the wheel arch) and bending vertical. This leaves the exterior looking stock but allows you to run wider wheels without the arch cutting into the tyre. What you are referring to is flairing the arch. But the way that the arches are on a mini, you wouldn't be able to do it so you are going to need to create a more 'conventional' steel wheel arch.

I don't think you are going to be able to find a repair panel for another car that the 10's wont look lost in so this means you are going to need to make your own. The only way I can think of doing this is to use 2 lengths of thin steel rod, use 1 to form the upper curve of the arch (the top line of say a grp2 were it sits flush with the shell) and the 2nd to form the curve for the outer edge. By joining the 2 pairs of ends together (and prob a couple of rods to tie the 2 curves together so they don't spring apart) you can then make a card template of the sheet steel you will need to cut for the arch. you then tack weld the sheet steel onto the rods and there you have 1 flaired wheel arch ready to be welded onto your shell. If you can find the build thread of a clubby with a front engined RWD ZXR powered mini (was on ebay not that long ago), he made up his arches using this method

Thinking about it, you could use a set of mini arches as the basis of the formers for the steel arches, that way it'll make it easier to get them all the same and in proportion to the shell :)

Have a look through here. I'm not sure if it's tucked enough, but it may be useful to have a read through the article (the orange mini) .
