I have bought a second hand front subframe for my 1992 Mayfair, the new one is slightly different it has 2 holes for the bump stops and it does not have the bracket for the front engine mount. So I assume it is from an earlier car. I have also found that the holes for the front mounts are to high to line up with the front panel. Are the 2 subframes different sizes etc or can they be used?

Oops.... check the top of the towers and report back on the bolt holes .... how many are there on top of each tower ?
Your 92 should have one on each tower
The subframe you have bought could wel have 2 on each
in which case its an earlier version and will not fit.

Definately only one bolt hole as I have it in the mini just seems odd that the front bolts don't line up the subframe is a good inch to high

if it has the 2 holes for the bump stop and no front engine steady then its pre 1976.
the front subframe holes to front panel, is that out of alignment with the teardrop mounts in place?

Yes the tear drops are fitted to the front panel and the subframe holes are to high?

very strange, pre 76 has 2 hole bump stops but is solid mount so should not have teardrop mounts (unless its had a later front panel fitted at some time on the car the subframe came off) and its 2 bolts per turret.
