Fabulous photos, thanks for posting those.
I believe my friend Whizzo Williams won a race in a Mini - he's the same age as me! There is life in the old dogs yet ;D

Wow. I am impressed you know Whizzo. Here is a picture I took of him at Chelsea Auto Legends with Paddy Hopkirk two weeks ago plus Whizzo's magnificent Cooper, the first ever to win an international rally.

Fantastic pictures mab01uk.
I am sorry to miss the revival this year. Too scared about the weather and left it too late. I could not go last year but the year before was brilliant and very mini focused.

Whizzo and I have been good friends ever since we met on the 1964 Manx Rally. Every year we marshal together on the Historic Tour of Cheshire and laugh together all day. He is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet and, of course, a superb driver. In fact his car, 120MNP was the first Cooper 'S' to win an International rally. The 997 had already won when Pat (Moss) and Ann (Wisdom) won the 1962 Tulip in 737ABL which, incidentally, was the only Mini to win an International Rally and not be red with a white roof, as it was red/black.

Go to www.24PK.co.uk for the story of a very special Cooper. Then when you get to that site go to 'History, and do the PDF download. If you scroll down to the '64 Manx rally you can have a laugh at how Barrie 'Whizzo' and I got the wreck back to the UK from the Isle of Man. That the history of that little car has been so well researched and presented is a real credit to Roy who now owns it.

Thanks for clarifying that, Cooperman. I had a feeling I was a bit wrong and remembered later that Pat Moss and Ann Wisdom had already won.
Great story about 24PK. I saw that car at Beaulieu last year and it is stunning.
120 MNP is also on the front cover of this month's CooperWorld taken at almost exactly the same angle as my Chelsea photograph.

Sorry to hijack the thread mab01uk. Back on topic that is a great movie.
