Your engine is ingetsing too much air through the system, the carb must have been tuned to compensate but it won't be working properly. With one side connected to the carb and the other open, the carb is drawing in loads of extra air. The two breathers should be connected together and then the pair connected to the carb. Or the whole system open vented and the carb connection sealed. Doing it half and half is not a good idea. Connecting it up properly is almost certain to reduce some of your oil leaks, unless they are down to damaged gaskets or loose joints or something.

May I suggest that if you have nothing useful to say you don't say anything at all.Be quiet you're not helping the initial question if you wish to argue further PM me, if you must.
or you could just admit you were wrong, you told roy he was wrong and now you dont want to admit it on the forum.
Like I said to the other member, if you must continue this PM me, it doesn't help the OP at all! - in fact you haven't actually contributed to this thread in a positive way at all, just tried to snipe at people.
Anyway, as Dan, who has beaten me to it, suggests either have the whole system open to the atmosphere, or have a closed loop system, the half system I've seen people employ including your setup is not the most efficient system and will cause the carb to run out of tune as the conditions of the crankcase changes due to the large amount of air being sucked through.

So they connected together and then T'd into the carb? as just connecting them together is the worst thing you can do!right so on your advice iv gone and got some breather pipe and a y peice to connect the two up.
They should be T'd up with one part going to the carb.

yeah il just conveniently fit it a few days before the rolling road sessionYou will probably now find your car is running rich, but more predictably. It will just need an adjustment to compensate for the reduced airflow.
