i have 1 of the breathers connected to the carb the other has a filter on it. but iv run all 3 of my engines like this without any problems. i used to have both connected to the carb but it was a bit of a homemade system that wasnt great, i was advised by my local mini specific garage that 1 breather to the carb is enough. i think im just gona leave it all for now and ask when its roaded. thanks tho

Ah, OK. Your system is not working, did the garage tell you it was OK to have one breather open and one to the carb? It's not.

Your engine is ingetsing too much air through the system, the carb must have been tuned to compensate but it won't be working properly. With one side connected to the carb and the other open, the carb is drawing in loads of extra air. The two breathers should be connected together and then the pair connected to the carb. Or the whole system open vented and the carb connection sealed. Doing it half and half is not a good idea. Connecting it up properly is almost certain to reduce some of your oil leaks, unless they are down to damaged gaskets or loose joints or something.

Be quiet you're not helping the initial question if you wish to argue further PM me, if you must.

or you could just admit you were wrong, you told roy he was wrong and now you dont want to admit it on the forum.

May I suggest that if you have nothing useful to say you don't say anything at all.
Like I said to the other member, if you must continue this PM me, it doesn't help the OP at all! - in fact you haven't actually contributed to this thread in a positive way at all, just tried to snipe at people.

Anyway, as Dan, who has beaten me to it, suggests either have the whole system open to the atmosphere, or have a closed loop system, the half system I've seen people employ including your setup is not the most efficient system and will cause the carb to run out of tune as the conditions of the crankcase changes due to the large amount of air being sucked through.

just go on ebay and buy a very cheap early engine rocker top with the breather pipe in.

Sorry I was wrong there was the above insightful comment.

eayest way is .. just have a small pod filter on the timing chain brether ( if its there . wilth a pipe bringing it up to the radiator support ... same on the breather on the drop gear case ( if its there ) rocker cover with vent just there .. or if you have hs4 to the airbox out put . and any cap . and the vent on the carb just piped away from the manifold

So they connected together and then T'd into the carb? as just connecting them together is the worst thing you can do!

They should be T'd up with one part going to the carb.

You will probably now find your car is running rich, but more predictably. It will just need an adjustment to compensate for the reduced airflow.
