How Much Weight Can You Put In A Mini?

I am about to leave for a festival with 4 friends in my mini (one rather large), combined with a roof rack with 6 chairs, gazebo and four tents on top (two pop up ones) and a load of drink in the boot.
Is there a chance that my mini will give up? Or blow a tyre? What kind of speeds should i be doing to make sure that we don't die, hah
Help would be appreciated,
Anton

Watch the original Italian job to find out how much weight you can get in a mini
I "liked" this and commented too because it made me giggle

Overloading a vehicle past this is an offence, the police use visual indications to decide if you as a car owner are overloaded, and it carries a hefty penalty fine.
Goods vehicles are weighed by VOSA (fair), cars are judged by the police (arguably unfair decision).
Remember, your brakes are going to be pretty pointless with all that weight, so I wouldn't even think of driving at any speed.

So not that much! The maximum gross weight (MAM) for the car is stamped on the VIN for some years, but not always. It's less than the 1800kg required for the movie. It is designed as a 4 passenger car though and meant to carry a lot of luggage too so just be careful how you load it and drive it. Don't go crazy on the roof.

And propshaft? NO! The 'trouble with his differential' line is A a joke, and B written by someone who doesn't know what front wheel drive means. Or the director just decided it looked better for the back of the car to be jacked up rather than the front on the blocking. It's only a movie!

On a note regarding the actual question. I have loaded my car just as heavily and it survived fine. I just had trouble with tyre scrub on the rear arches.

I think that's someone else on here. I'm a camera grip. Although the unit stills people who work for the publicity department usually are very much part of the crew. Stills photographers who work off set are a different thing altogether.

I think i've done my suspension though as we went down a pot hole and the rear drivers side rubs against the wheel arch with the weight on, without the weight it is fine, think my suspension or something has gone, i need to get it checked out.
