Sooo, i have read many diffrent threads about how to seal the undercarriage and welds but still not a clue.... When sealing a weld do i need to put seam sealer around the weld? then just a cote of under seal or do i need to use primer as well like red oxide??

Any welding that you have done will need sealing to be 100% sure but as you have said there are different options.
If you have brand new shiny metal then use something like Tigerseal etc and either brush it over the welded join or if you have the mastic tube type then a nice bead off sealant over the weld then using your finger or a spatula smooth over the sealant for a nice finish. Then prime and paint over that. Once dry you can then use a Waxoyl product especially under the car to finish off.
If there is any rust close by make sure you treat this first otherwise putting any sealant over it will be a waste of time as it will keep corroding.
You may find you will be able to put a light dust coat of etch primer on first before sealing but try a bit first to make sure you do not get any reaction.
There have been quite a few threads with regards to Hammerite, POR15 etc so its each to their own there. POR15 seems to be rated but i have never used it so cannot comment but use the search facility on the forum and you will find the various threads.
We have powder coated project Erms subframe but although it looks good it can chip.
Etch primer will do as a first dust coat then normal primer followed by paint but each product requires different things so whatever you are going to use you do need to follow the instructions to get the best results.
